Tennessee Women's Tennis

Just want to give a shout out to a women's team here at Tennessee that is making some waves. The women's tennis team, ranked #24, just improved to 13-1 on the season after wins over #14 Kansas and #33 UNLV in matches played at UNLV. This is their third ranked win as they beat #29 Wake Forest earlier in the season, Now coached by former Lady Vol Alison Ojeda, this team has surpassed expectations and is ready to take on a challenging SEC season which features 12 teams in the ITA rankings. SEC season starts this upcoming weekend March 3rd and 5th as they play at home against #7 Vanderbilt and #43 Kentucky! Come out and support the tennis team!

Yes, tennis, rowing, soccer--support all the teams. I like the new women's tennis coach, but it's all about recruiting. I think the record is a bit deceiving in that they've played a lot of lesser programs, but beating Kansas--not exactly a traditional tennis power--was nice. We have a pretty good tennis tradition at UT--more on the men's side than the women, but no reason they both can't be strong!
