whenever UT actually gets around to hiring one is tell CHW thanks for everything, including her loyalty to Pat and UT, but that it is time for the program to go in a different direction. This probably won't happen as women's basketball will be way down the priority list, but this is just embarrassing.

So are you suggesting that Holly should be fired? What a novel idea. I don't believe anyone on this board has raised that prospect before. After a LV loss, the general ethos of the board is one of "Holly, LV coach forever!!"

Thank you so much for starting this much needed thread.

The new AD is going to look at how the women's basketball program has been doing(winning record every year, making NCAA tournament, and winning some tournament games) think it is good enough, and go focus his efforts elsewhere. Holly will be the coach until her contract ends or she steps down.

This sounds like what is going to happen.

I hope the next batch of recruits do not require a lot of coaching and are self starters.

This is the fear. They are going to punish a subset of the Lady Vol fans by keeping Holly on as coach because of the stink that was made combining the departments etc...

The group that was most adamant about the lawsuits and some of the other silliness is also the group which is most adamant about keeping Holly, so the easiest way to deal with them is to give them what they want --- program be damned.

It would not surprise me to see Holly get a big extension and then for the program to be completely forgotten by the new AD while he moves on to deal with the revenue generating sports. In fact, it may be the wisest move to not expend any political capital on the women's program since it will be needed elsewhere (we are looking at you, Butch).

You basically have fans of the program pitted against fans of the coach. There is not enough upside there to warrant the AD taking a stand until everyone is on the same page.

The first thing a new AD should do is hold a press conference telling everyone that Peyton was just hired to be the AD-in-Waiting and then do a mic drop and leave.

:rock:I like Fulmer or Blackburn for AD, but the question is do either one of them have the guts to remove CHW and get a LV basketball coach that can get the job done.I do not believe Fulmer has the guts to address the situation. Dave Hart should do it then retire.

My bet is that Holly will keep her job now because she has a top recruiting class coming in.
Next season, we will still perform poorly but people will use the fact that the team is full of freshmen, so she gets another season for them to develop.
IF the team doesn't perform in the 2018 season, when the players are all sophomores, then finally Holly will be fired.
So, she has two full seasons to produce or she will be fired.........

Id say she will "retire" in the next 2 years

The new AD should sack Warlick within the first week of his (or her) arrival--maybe on the first day. There is a lot of talk that Fulmer is going to be our new AD. That would be a dumb decision on its face--and, worse, because Fulmer is an old-timer who spent a lot of time around Summitt, he's likely to give Warlick the benefit of the doubt--thereby extending the program's mediocrity--now about ten years old-- for another several years.

The new AD might want to take a look at the coaches of the teams at UT who can't seem to get beyond mediocre performance. Men's football and basketball come to mind for me.

No more calls, we have a winner. Holly is perfect useful idiot for multiple factions on the Hill. Why burn someone 's house down when you can get the owner to do it for you.

Good analysis and conclusions and that may very well portend what will happen with the new Women's Chancellor and new Athletic Director whose 1st job will be to extinguish the fire that has been built around the football program and Coach Jones.

I will make this observation,Coach Fulmer has been a regular attendee at Lady Vol games this year and is aware of what has happened to Lady Vol program thruout its history .So,there may be some hope that some action will taken if Fulmer is selected as AD but it will not be the firing of Holly.More likely something like becoming Coach Emeritus or installed in Athletic Department to oversee Women's sports or maybe retirement .

Chancellor and new Athletic Director ,that is the big question,we know the Chancellor, who will be the AD? and will they have the love for the Lady Vols as we do?

I will be impressed if she says there all called the Lady Vols once again,Bama Dave was brought in here to do several different things, and he has done them, like merging the 2 programs, there isn't a Lady Vols program anymore, haven't you noticed the difference in the last couple of years? he has improved the football team

after some early mess ups, like letting Wilcox and company go and hiring Sunseri

I have no idea of what or how that relates to the womens basketball court, but what is missing ? I'm interested in the AD big time, hopefully if will be Blackburn or somebody else with lot's of AD experience

There's not an AD in the country that is going to fire a coach with three conference titles and three Elite 8 appearances in four years and the #1 recruiting class coming in. Not one AD.

Alabama would, unless it is a women's sport. Hoop skirts and mint juleps for them!
