I'll keep it short(ish) this time:

Vols pounded a weak Belmont team 8-nil today. Impressive offensive showing. I've been talking up freshman midfielder Danielle Marcano, and today she showed some of her talent--scoring two goals, her first as a Vol, in 40 minutes of action (her most of the season). One was an absolute laser. We've got some good freshman--Bialczak and Flynn (both redshirt frosh) are excellent athletes and have impressed; true freshmen O'Keefe, Gouner and Seaman have done well; Cousins has had a few moments. Massey has not played recently--not sure why--and Neal is hurt. Marcano might be the most talented of the bunch. Has the total midfield package--pacey, technical (good ball skills), uses her body well and has an attacking mentality--likes to get forward, looks to score and /can/ score. We need that.

Everybody played pretty well today--good moments from Hutson (goal and assist), Bialczak, beautiful header by Ferguson, Neil and McClung each with another goal, and Wagner got her first. Seven different scorers--nice. Goal now should be to keep working at becoming a better possession team and getting better midfield play against SEC competition. Back four need to tighten up the passing as well. But an excellent day, team has loads of upside if we can bolster the midfield (see Marcano), and a week to get ready for auburn. That is a game we need to win.
