It is one thing to get beat and quite another to play meekly and give games away because you can't handle the pressure. That's what we did tonight, just as we did against Louisville two or three years ago. Another massive choke job--let's call a spade and spade. We sure did play like LADY vols.

We started well--and then instead of gaining confidence we slowly but quite noticeably fell apart! Why? Who can explain it? Graves played scared, and so did just about everybody on the team. It's not a question of talent, we simply cannot handle pressure. We were not aggressive. We did not attack the basket. We had 1 free throw attempt in the game--and ZERO free throws made. Not one point from the FT line! Are you kidding?

We can't handle pressure--and it goes back to the coach. The diehard will talk about our injuries, and oh, wasn't Warlick brilliant to get us to the Elite Eight. We had the EASIEST draw of any of the top seeds! None of the first three teams we played were in the top 35, and we played two of them at home. We had to hang on to beat Pitt, and only a miraculous comeback saved us against 11 seed Zaga. Why are we falling behind by 17 to Zaga.

We basically asked Maryland to win the game because we were too bad and too nervous to do so, and so they did. Maryland didn't beat us--we beat ourselves, again. Geno must feel sorry for us: The once-mighty Vols, too scared to win a basketball game.

I agree with your assessment of how they played. Except for a few exceptions, the Lady Vols weren't aggressive and could not convert on the offensive end. They didn't close the game well.

Your post is pretty sexist though. You're conflating weakness and tentativeness with females, which is simply not correct. Women can be just as mentally and physically tough as men. Our Lady Vols played weakly because of poor game decisions and lack of mental toughness, something that both sexes do, not just "Ladies".

Ummm...calm yourself down. It was a helluva run, and they played well.

Stop being a stooge.

I always have thought we can match up with anyone and out-roster them..... even not counting injured ones we have 6 McDonalds All Americans on the roster...... and I had expected better..... I do not like to come on here to criticize, so I'll take the medicine and wish the team good luck with next years roster..... good effort tonight

Sexist has nothing to do with that post. U are right by saying both men and women have poor games do to lack of mental toughness and bad decisions. Those are two of the best examples of poor coaching.

Considering how we began the season with major injuries, and how we ended the season with a major injury, it was a great year for the Lady Vols.

Put all of the Graveyarders on Ignore, and get ready for a great season next near. We will definitely be in the Final Four.

Exactly. Maryland had won 28 straight and hadn't lost since Dec.1... Yet they were the easiest 1 seed?

We got a #15 seed, a #10 seed and an #11 seed and MD was the lowest #1 seed. Getting to the F4 is never a gimme, and MD is a talented, well-coached team, but we did have the easiest path.

You are confusing being scared with being out matched in terms of size and strength. More often than not, when the LVs tried to score in the paint, they got stuffed by a bigger Maryland front line. We had to became a jump shooting team and given the high energy defensive effort and short bench, fatigue had an impact on their shots.

Let's take Burdick's air ball at a critical point late in the game. If she had hit the trey, the game would have been tied with about 90 seconds to go. A big potentially game changing moment. But did you notice just how hard she was working to effectively defend a post player who had 4 inches and probably 30 pounds on her?

She had no lift in her legs and understandably so.

Look dude, if it makes feel you like a "big man" to call these students athletes "scared" and weak after they gave it their all on the court and just lost to a better team (given the absence of Izzy, Jannah, and Jasmine), more power to you I guess.

I guarantee you one thing. You sure as hell would not say anything of these things to Grave's or Burdick's faces.

He can't stop. He spews the same trash every day. He's as anti lady vol as you will find on here.

Uh, personally I find that someone who will not stand for mediocrity to be the exact opposite. The people here b***h about the state of the program demand a level of excellence that we are continuously losing with each season.

Most women's programs would kill to have this level of fan investment in their programs. TN has some of the most diehard fans of any university in the country and as a result we are super critical of the product out on the field/court.

The ladies weren't able to hit the easy shots from 10' and in all night long. They shot them but they didn't fall for whatever reason. We missed wide open shots. Holly wasn't out there. You don't get to the final 4 in anything if you can't make easy baskets. It is what it is.

HOWEVER I am still proud of what they did. Sometimes life doesn't go your way. You learn to deal with it. This team represented our state and the fans and the university WELL. There is nothing to be ashamed of with them or the coach. VFL's IMHO.
