| Debbie Jennings may seek legal action againt the University for forcing a retirement, resign, or be fired. She is trying to get them to settle w/out seeking legal route. Full story on Govolsxtra.com. I just think that our PR is really bad right now with this and Bud Ford problems. |

| I doubt if any of those getting cut feel it's a minor bump. |

| The whole "I'm not going to abandon Pat" is crap. She wanted to keep her job like anybody else would in her position. After the so called discrimination claim and the fact she said she wanted to keep her benefits says it all. Not saying it's not justified but let's call it what it is
Also, Hart told her she could pursue a case against the school if she wanted to. You think he didn't know something like this was going to happen in this day and age? I'm guessing the department and school were well aware what they were getting into with these layoffs. This isn't the first time the university of Tennessee has "retired" somebody.
This is a case where the people saying it's bad PR are right, and the people that are saying it's necessary are right, too.

| | Technical Difficulties | I will make a wild guess here and say she has gotten the better deal over the years between UT and her. She needs to STFU to put it mildly. |

| I was not a fan of the Hart hire, but I gotta say, he's growing on me. This stupid broad has been on UTAD welfare and needs to send a thank you card, flowers, and shut the F up. |

Jennings rattling sabers and threats will only cost her money; question is, how much is she willing to lose. Yes, it may cost UT some dough too but I'm betting UT will prevail. Give Hart kudos for doing (apparently) what is and has been needed. |

| How does one know what is and has been needed? Hart seems nothing more than a corporate hatchet man, IMO. Time will tell.
Jennings, 57, was replaced by Eric Trainer, a younger male staff member. Her salary was $93,296 at the time, according to the university; Trainer’s salary was $66,300. |

| Not in my opinion if it is what it appears to be. Get rid of older employees and replace them with younger employees for far less money? I don't know the details but that's what I see on the surface. |

| your point? thats how business works. my brother in-law works for g.m. thousands of older workers replaced by younger ones at 2/3's the pay. might not seem right, but it happens alllll the time. the university is a business. we'll find out if the way they go rid of her is legal, and if it is, then they are doing what they feel they need to do to run a competitive business....... it's not personal, its business. would you pay more than $25,000 yr more than you had to for the same work done? |
