Doc Rivers chokes up talking Pat Summit today

at the end of his press conference. If you mods want to put this in one of the Pat threads, fine. I just thought it was unusual enough for its own thread.

Pat was so much more than a basketball coach. She taught about life decisions and the way one should conduct himself/herself on and off the court. Will be missed in many different aspects of life in general. A real legacy to the University of Tennessee .

Just made me a Celtics fan. (Had no serious NBA allegiance before). Nice show of class.

You're a full on Celtics fan now because of this? You'll be liking a lot of NFL teams in the next couple of days then...

There is no doubt that Pat was well liked and respected. She is going to be missed.

Not full-on necessarily. (I'm not going to be buying any Rondo jerseys anytime soon.) But I don't see any harm in wishing them well and pulling for them when their coach shows real emotion and class concerning one of our own.

I met Doc when he was towards the end of his career...he was a great guy, he took the time to sign a bunch of stuff and even made Oakley come over and sign for a kid who had his jersey on.

I hate the Celtics but that was a classy move by Doc. He's got my respect.
