| | Senior Member | Poor Defense, Caldwell failed, keep Pat Summitt First and foremost I think there should be a place on this team as long as Pat wants it. Secondly, Caldwell coaching, I understand Britney Griner is hard to stop inside, but Sims , I think that was the girl who kept throwing up the threes uncontested, shows me Caldwell out of her league. What Tennessee has to have is a recruiter. Niki Caldwell would be such a better fit when the time comes to have a new head coach.

Who is out of her league? |

| Maybe you mean Warlick...and maybe I should give as little attention to your post as you apparently did. Pat is the coach until she decides otherwise. Our loss to Baylor had less to do with Warlick and more to do with the better team winning yesterday. Hate it for the seniors. |

| OP, re-think what you wrote. I'm pretty sure you mean Warlick. Additionally, this group of seniors never made a final four; so, I don't feel it's completely fair to blame 100% of this on Warlick, when of those 4 years that these girls were in school, Pat was coaching them. Maybe this group simply isn't what we've had in the past. Just another angle to take it.

Also, Candace may still hold the dunk record, but of the dunks that Mr. Griner has thrown down--a few of those have been mildly authoritative. I'm hoping to see Baylor win it all, honestly, and against UConn, naturally. I'm more concerned about Geno being denied another championship than I am about seeing Baylor succeed.

| | Senior Member | There were some mind-numbing plays defensively last night when our girls would needlessly leave someone open for a 3. I rewound one play back to see what the heck happened, and our guard left one shooter to double the shooter with the ball, and the result was the same as it had been all night. It wasn't just a case of collapsing on the ringer they had at center. It was bad rotation. |

If she feels like the focus is on her (and her health) and that is a distraction to the program she will step down for the good of the program.
That said, I think she steps down.

It wasn't just a case of collapsing on the ringer they had at center. It was bad rotation. | It's hard to rotate on a zone defense when 2-3 girls bracket that beast Griner at all times. If Griner doesn't have the ball, she's still requiring 2 defenders. That leaves 3 girls to defend the ball handler and the remaining 3 wings. That's a numbers game that you just can't win if the other team hits perimeter shots. When they shoot the 3 the way they did last night, Baylor is unbeatable. The better team won last night, and is likely on their way to 40-0.
Still a good Lady Vols season. They fought through some real adversity. When you are disappointed by Elite 8 runs, it's a good place to be. We will miss that huge crop of seniors next year. |

| I think coaching can take some blame in this one. No timeouts to stop Baylor's runs. Mulkey used her timouts to break our runs when we came roaring back in the second half. Holly should have played man and put Kamiko on Sims early on and shut that stuff down before she got going. Teams worry so much about Griner that they let the rest of the team beat them. The tale of the tape on this game was the same as the first. Poor shooting from the outside spelled doom for this team. |

What do you think happens if we don't spend half of our defense on her?
As for the timeouts, the only way we are stopping those runs is by sneaking Jarnell in the game with a wig. The Lady Vols got beat by a (far) superior team. Same could be said for Baylor's other 37 victories. |

| | Junior Member | Holly was out coached last night. Why was Simmons on the bench so much. Why did Burdick get in only at the end. Spani has not been a factor most of the season and Harrison is a fouling machine. Williams sat most of the game while Bass played too many minutes. Overall the rotation was horrible. This was not the only game this has happened.
Maybe I'm missing something |

Maybe I'm missing something | I watched the game. Coach K himself couldn't have coached a Lady Vol victory last night. I'm actually impressed that the team showed a lot of fight and kept making just enough runs to stay within striking distance. In the end, Baylor is just that freaking good. I don't know why so many on here don't seem to get that. |
