Halls High in Knoxville has an excellent football program.
HAD an excellent program. I believe we went 0 for this year. Don't think we won more than a few the year before. Granted we had some solid seasons from 03-09. Still have a bitter taste in my mouth about our Powell game in 07. I don't think I've ever felt worse after losing a game.

They do not have the talent that they did when I played there. 97-00.

Perry left as soon as the talent pool dried up

I have to say my team has went from a powerhouse to a powderpuff! Portland went 0-10 this year the first time ever in 89 yrs of football. We have only won 3 games in the past 3 seasons. We need a coach bad, it has turned into a joke since Roger Perry left for Mt. Juliet. RBS could have took us this year.
Perry's assistants propped him up imo.

Talent is the issue. They have had none since 2002.

Just to update the futility of what passes for a football program at David Crockett High School....

The Losing Pioneers finally achieved 100 wins in the program's 41 year history in 2012, finishing the season 2-8 (0-7 in conference). They put up 82 pts in their 2 wins, but only 48 points combined in the other 8 games. Their all-time record is now 101-321-1. The season was highlighted by new all-time worst losses to Dobyns-Bennett and Science Hill.

For the 10th season in a row, they lost to "rival" Daniel Boone, making DCHS 9-32 all time vs the Trailblazers. For the 2nd season in a row they failed to score a single point in the "rivalry game".

2012 results
W 30-22 @ Sullivan East
L 43-0 vs Tennessee High
L 35-0 @ Cocke County
L 63-8 @ #7 Science Hill
W 52-25 vs South Greene
L 33-8 vs Volunteer
L 73-0 @ #4 Dobyns-Bennett (a new worst loss ever for the school)
L 41-0 vs Sullivan North
L 54-32 @ Sullivan Central
L 48-0 vs #16 Daniel Boone

As you might have guessed from the lack of scores from DCHS in multiiples of 7's or 3's, the team had no true kicker. Not that it would have mattered in the clutch, as there is were no clutch moments that a made or missed FG or PAT would have made a difference.

It is the first season opening win for DCHS since..... you guessed it! Since they played Sullivan East to start the 2010 campaign.

Worst losses ever (updated through 2012):
73-0 at Dobyns-Bennett 2012 (73 pt Margin of Victory)
62-0 vs Ketron (later Sullivan North) 1976 (62 pt Margin of Victory)
57-0 vs Jefferson County 1990 (57 pt MoV)
63-8 at Science Hill 2012 (55 pt MoV)
56-2 vs Greeneville 2005 (54 pt MoV)
53-0 vs Jefferson County 1992 (53 pt MoV)
52-0 vs Jefferson County 1987 (52 pt MoV)
52-0 vs Greeneville 2004 (52 pt MoV)
56-6 vs Sullivan East 1976 (50 pt MoV)
49-0 vs Jefferson County 1989 (49 pt MoV)
48-0 vs Morristown West 1986 (48 pt MoV)
54-6 vs Jefferson County 1986 (48 pt MoV)
55-7 vs Science Hill 2011 (48 pt MoV)
48-0 vs Daniel Boone 2012 (48 pt MoV)
54-7 vs Dobyns Bennett 2010 (47 pt MoV)
60-13 vs Tennessee High 2011 (47 pt MoV)
45-0 vs Morristown West 1987 (45 pt MoV)
51-6 vs Morristown West 1989 (45 pt MoV)

Most points ever given up in a single game (updated through 2012):
73-0 at Dobyns-Bennett 2012
67-35 vs Cocke County 2011
63-8 at Science Hill 2012
62-0 vs Ketron 1976
60-13 vs Tennessee High 2011
60-34 vs South Greene 2011
57-0 vs Jefferson County 1990
56-2 vs Greeneville 2005
56-6 vs Sullivan East 1976
56-7 vs Dobyns-Bennett 2011
56-21 vs Morristown West 1999
55-14 vs Cherokee 1994
55-7 vs Science Hill 2011
55-14 vs Morristown East 2002
54-6 vs Jefferson County 1986
54-7 vs Dobyns-Bennett 2010
54-13 vs Sullivan South 2011
54-32 at Sullivan Central 2012

...and the uni's are still fugly as ever...

Union County is pretty bad. I remember playing them and it was like playing a pee wee football team. If i can remember correctly, they have won 3-5 games in the last 12 years or so.

The same source I use for the David Crockett statistics shows Red Boiling Springs football was established in 1974, 3 years after David Crockett. RBS is also a 1-A school, DCHS is 5-A but usually only has a roster comparable to a 1-A or 2-A, plus they get beaten by 2, 3, & 4-A schools often. For a 1-A, it's somewhat understandable. For a 5-A, it's downright inexcusable.

Gibson County has only been around since 1989 (according to my findings), and is a 3-A.

Union County has only been around since 1993, and is a 4-A.

From that perspective, I'd say the worst of these four are...

4. Union County Patriots- least tenure of losing, and usually seems to eek out 2-4 wins a season, which is a juggernaut in this group.

3. Gibson County Pioneers- The only reason they're not #2 is because they haven't been losing for nearly 40 years. Maybe they should have looked to that infamous team from the east with the Pioneers name before deciding to call themselves Pioneers as well. That, and they have had a couple of anomaly seasons where they're at or above .500.

2. Red Boiling Springs Bulldogs- 38 years of losing, but 1-A schools are kind of expected to get kicked around.

1. David Crockett Pioneers- 41 years of losing, often doing it in the highest of classifications. Every road game, even those against 2-A and 3-A schools, is a homecoming game.

Each of these teams seems to have a chance to go 0-for the season, every season. Each is infamous for football ineptitude. But in a roomful of dirty football jerseys, the David Crockett ones stink just a little more, if only by a whiff.

As always, your results may vary.

Union County the last 3 years - 0-30

I know a stretch when my newphew played they had won 1-2 games the entire four years he was there.

They changed their name from Horace Maynard to Union County sometime. They also were 3A before the changes in classifications a few years back.

They were in the "bad" region with:

Claiborne County
Rutledge
Ect.

In this region you could win 1-2 games and make the playoffs. They would then get crapped on by Austin East, Fulton, Kingston, Anderson County or Gibbs.

Sullivan East could be considered.. I played on the team Last Year that went 7-4, like the 2nd best season in school history.

Sullivan East has played David Crockett annually since 2005, going 5-3 against the Pioneers in that period.

Reviewing the stats for Union County, they are much worse than I initially realized. Not sure where I got the impression that they have winning seasons once every 4 or 5 years...

The following with corrected football classifications-

Union County Patriots
Class 2-A
-winless seasons- 2
-1 win seasons- 5
-2 win seasons- 7
-3 win seasons- 6
-longest losing streak- 28 and counting (last 8 games of '10, all '11 and '12)
-winning seasons- 1- 1994
-best season- 1994 (2nd season) 7-4

Sullivan East Patriots
Class 2-A
-winless seasons- 9
-1 win seasons- 7
-2 win seasons- 6
-3 win seasons- 5
-longest losing streak- 21 games (all of '00, all of '01, first game of '02)
-winning seasons- 8
-best season- 2004 (10-2)

David Crockett Pioneers
Class 3-A
-winless seasons- 7
-1 win seasons- 9
-2 win seasons- 13
-3 win seasons- 2
-longest losing streak- 27 games (last game of 1975, all of '76, all of 77, first 7 games of '78)
-winning seasons- 4
-best season- 1971 (inaugural season) 8-1-1

Red Boiling Springs Bulldogs
Class 1-A
-winless seasons- 17
-1 win seasons- 9
-2 win seasons- 6
-3 win seasons- 6
-longest losing streak- 69 games (last 9 games of 1986, all of '87, '88, '89, '90, '91, and '92)
-winning seasons- 1 (1976)
-best season- 1976 (5th season) 6-4

Gibson County Pioneers
Class 1-A
-winless seasons- 7
-1 win seasons- 2
-2 win seasons- 4
-3 win seasons- 5
-longest losing streak- 43 games (last 3 games of '08, all of '09, '10, '11, and '12)
-winning seasons- 1 (1995)
-best season- 1995 (7th season) 6-5

:::UPDATE:::

Looks like David Crockett's search for a new coach ended much more quickly than I expected....

Jeremy Bosken takes over Crockett football

Easily Hillwood or Hunters Lane High School

At least not much is expected from these no name schools in the corners of TN. It's a shame that the biggest county in the entire state has the worst football programs for schools though.(Outside of Ensworth which isn't a public school)

You would think the majority of talent would be in the capital where the most of the population is. However TN is ass backwards in that regard.
