I know they aren't a TN HS but they did have the longest win streak in the nation. Now Maryville has that honor.

Most of us in the the Memphis/Shelby-Metro area are familiar with the University of South Panola.

Nation's longest high school football win streak ends at 89
Dec. 6, 2008

JACKSON, Miss. -- The nation's longest high school football win streak is over after South Panola fell to Meridian 26-20 in overtime of the Class 5A state championship game on Friday.

The Tigers had won 89 straight games, the third longest streak in history, and five straight state titles. But James Barnett scored from 2 yards out on Meridian's second play of overtime and Jacoby Eason sacked South Panola's David Renfroe on fourth down on the ensuing possession to end the streak.

Maryville, Tenn., now holds the nation's longest win streak at 74 games. The team puts the streak on the line against Hillsboro in the Class 4A state title game on Saturday. A win would give Maryville its fifth straight state title.

Only Concord (Calif.) De La Salle (151 games) and Charlotte (N.C.) Independence (109) have won more consecutive games than South Panola, located in Batesville, about an hour south of Memphis, Tenn.

That game was great! I have it tivo'd. The kicking in that game was attrocious. Unfortunate to see them lose it because of that, but I guess that's the way it goes.

BTW the Meridian qb, Tyler Russell, is a player! He's committed to State, but I've read he'll listen to other schools since State has no coach right now.
