| Valdosta HS, GA Winningest program in nation... You might have heard of them, they've always been a legit program, but I was just watching Remember the Titans again and found out they were runner up for the national championship to Valdosta in 1971. After googling their team, I found some crazy stats. 23 state titles. 6 national championships. 800+ wins. Idk google valdosta and check it out for yourself. Oh, and just to let you know, South GA football is L E G I T. They grow em big and fast down there. The TN/GA allstar game, had south GA players been playing, would go to GA every year.
Also, I was just wondering if Tennessee has a hs program similar to Valdosta... and I'm bored. It would be cool to check out yalls state's powerhouse program. |

They were ranked number one in the country at the time. The headline in the AJC was "No More Joy in Winnersville".
Is Nick Hyder still with us? |

| Yeah, Maryville is the only program in Tennessee that could hang with Valdosta. |

| Maryville and a couple of programs have been pretty good lately, but Dobyns-Bennett is the most storied program in East TN. I forget now, but I read some time ago they are in the top 25 winningest football programs in the country (700 wins). Also #1 in basketball and I think top 25 in baseball.
I have no idea why D-B football is not listed here... but if they were we'd be #16. http://www.epasports.com/PhotosAndAr...sInAmerica.pdf
D-B's all time record is 700-208-28. 13 state titles.

| Wouldn't it be great to get the two most storied programs from TN and GA to play a game together? It wouldn't matter which year, with those kind of traditions it doesn't take much to bring it out of town kids to play, so neither team would ever honestly be in a down year.
Oh and the talent you see pouring into UGA every year either comes from south GA.....or Buford HS in Gwinnett. (just above atl). And they're only a 2A school. Buford owns North GA like no other. |

| My HS got beat by Valdosta in 1996. They were awesome then, and from what I heard they are bad (As in good) now.
My niece goes there now.

| I saw a story where Valdosta players jump and bang their helmets on a tin roof over the tunnell coming from the locker room before the games, getting themselves and the fans fired up. Just seems like a cool tradition. |

| Not sure if anyone has heard of Summerville High in south carolina but it is the biggest high school in south carolina. I just moved from there but i know it was a huge deal. There coach (John Mckissick) is the winningest coach in football history. I'm not sure about there program numbers but they seem to measure up. I go to school in asheville though but this would've been my second school of choice had i stayed home |

| Coached in Tennessee 22 years and 8 in Georgia. The area north of Atlanta is not alot different from the football played in southeast Tennessee. Squad size, talent. booster impact, facilities, etc. Different world from Atlanta on down thru south Georgia. Unbelieveable!! You guys realize the Atlanta area has more people than the whole state of Tennessee? |

| anyone see the titletown thing for valdosta today? nuts, i never would've thought they'd get on sportscenter. what an incredible bragging right for them huh?
"man we're gonna kill yall this year blah blah blah."
"oh really? we were on sportscenter for titletown."
"you have the floor"
haha sorry i just thought that was pretty cool that they actually did that presentation from the high school. The coolest thing that happened at my high school was the GA state Secretary landing her helicopter on our football field and coming to talk to us. |
