| He seems unstoppable against UET teams. Maryville will be different story Nov 30. Curt Phillips' high school career comes to an end, and the Maryville seniors continue their quest to go undefeated throughout their entire high school tenure. |

| if red bank does somehow beat Maryville tomorrow night, you have a chance. You have no chance against Maryville's D. It will be like watching Tebow against Auburn. |

| I haven't seen them play, but according to various writers across the state, Red Bank probably has the best shot to bring down the Red Rebels. |

| so much for Red Bank giving Maryville fits. I don't see it happening, but Phillips can put his name into not just UET lore, but Tennessee lore with a monumental upset Friday. Curt has the chance to supplant one Steve Spurrier as the greatest player in UET history. |

| Who's been the best HS team in upper ET this season?
Based on what this posting is about, has it been Sullivan South. I graduated EHS in '66 and remember seeing the ole ball coach play at SHHS in '62. Tennessee was one of the best in the nation years ago and got a ranking in the top 5 in the country.
I haven't kept up on local sports in the Tri-cities latley.
When I went to HS it was the Big 7 (Erwin, Greeneville, SHHS, EHS, Bristol, D-B and Morristown). Some of these schools are now in different conferences and the Big 7 is now the Big 10 and SHSS, D-B, Bristol and Greeneville still play the Cyclones along with Hampton, Happy Valley and Unaka (all Carter County teams).

| it has been Sullivan South, although the Hampton Bulldogs have put up quite an argument for that position. SS did lose to Greenville in the regular season, but they made up for it in the playoffs and then some.
Phillips has rewritten a ton of UET records and is even getting his name in the TSSAA books now. an upset tomorrow night can make him the best high school player ever in UET, even over the ole ball coach. |

Phillips might end up being a career backup at Wisconsin. He's got a ways to go before he outdoes guys like Bobby Dodd. |

| maybe i should rephrase. He's the best High school player in UET history. I assumed, incorrectly, since we are in the HS forum and we were talking about HS stats, it was a given. It evidently was not. Due to the size differential and talent amongst the teams, I can't accept the DB argument too much. But stats and numbers don't lie, and Phillips is moving in on that territory, has taken parts over, and is looking for more in about 20 hours. |

His excellence was confirmed when he ascended to the college level. The same goes for Steve Spurrier.
Sullivan South has fielded teams that could compete with and defeat D-B in the past. Evidently, even with Curt Phillips, they couldn't do that in the last few years. |

BTW 21-14 Maryville at the half |
