Sec College Recruiting

When might a college start looking or sending out letters to a player that they may be interested in talking to?
I have a son that is a juniour and has recived 5 letters this year just curious on what types of things a college my look at to get info on a player.

Letters really arent that big of a deal. Tons of people get letters that never have a chance to get into that school. If a college is interested send them some videos of him playing and tell his HS Coach to call the school.

That's true about sending videos to the school. I know a guy recruited by Kentucky heavily for a long time but they gave up interest on him when they signed a better player. I may be wrong, but I heard Luke Powell,( a SHS grad, played played at Stanford, made All American even) was offered a full ride to Duke after his junior year of high school.David Wolke, another SHS player, went to Notre Dame. He actually had his own website while in high school with videos,stats,etc.
