Arrow A long way to go, a hard road to hoe....

For my Smyrna Bulldogs this year. People say it's talent, but all the other divisional teams seem to be doing fine. Wonder if our coach may have been winning with Shad's boys. I'm just saying. Time will tell. I know our freshman team is undefeated so far. We have a killer schedule this year to top it off. But I'll remain loyal win or lose.

The idiom you're referring to is "a hard row to hoe".
Why would anyone want to hoe a road?
Roads don't need hoeing. Farms do.

Farms are easy to hoe where roads would be a real pain in the ass.
