Thumbs up TSSAA: New TV Deal for Championship Games!

I have waited on this for years living here in SE Tennessee and being able to watch the Georgia Championship games on Georgia Public Television and wondering why the TSSAA doesn't do this with the PBS stations in Tennessee.

Finally they have gotten with the program!

Quote:
TSSAA Network Announces New Television Partnership for Football, Basketball, and Other State Championships
Seven Tennessee Public Television Council stations to be new broadcast partner

The TSSAA Network, a partnership between The Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) and PlayON! Sports (PlayON), announces a new multi-year partnership with the seven Tennessee Public Television Council (TPTC) stations for the live distribution of all football and basketball championships, as well as tape-delayed distribution of other state championships.

During the three year agreement, all Division II football and basketball championships will air on live TV across the state for the first time, and all Division I football and basketball championships will continue to be broadcast live. In addition, the TSSAA Network will present a minimum of 17 additional state championships, including boys and girls soccer, volleyball, and track & field. These additional state championship events will air on a tape-delayed basis across the network of TPTC stations.

All championship events will also be streamed, live and free of charge to viewers, at www.TSSAANetwork.com. The website will also offer on-demand viewing and DVDs available for purchase at the conclusion of each event.

All TPTC stations are broadly available in the communities they serve, including over-the-air broadcast, cable, and satellite distribution.

The seven stations included in the partnership, and their over-the-air broadcast channel numbers, are:

WTCI-TV Chattanooga Channel 45
WCTE-TV Cookeville Channel 22
WLJT-TV Martin/Jackson Channel 11
WETP-TV Tri-Cities Channel 2
WKOP-TV Knoxville Channel 15
WKNO-TV Memphis Channel 10
WNPT-TV Nashville Channel 8

The first problem I see is it doesn't say if it will be in HD? Since everyone now has digital TV or a converter box to watch digital programing there is no reason everything shouldn't be in HD. Even HD down converted with a digital converter box looks great.

The second is it doesn't say anything about the Baseball or Softball Championships but does say Soccer & Volleyball? I would much rather watch Baseball & Softball Title games than the Volleyball one?

Anything will be an upgrade over the previous content. I usually miss traveling to it or watching it anyway. It seems like I always have a basketball game fall on that Saturday.
