Everyone including the announcers are waiting on Gulbis to start faltering. He's not even showing signs that he's going to. The crowd is extremely restless waiting on Roddick to take control. They very well could leave unhappy.

Gulbis just played some of the most amazing tennis I've ever seen. He took two of Roddick's best overhead smashes from the net on opposite ends of the court back to back, putting the second down the line with a beautiful forehand that no one could have got to. Gulbis hangs on to his serve, now up 5-3 in the second set. Everyone should watch Sportscenter in the morning to see that play.

Roddick finally breaks serve, wins his next serve and is currently up 6-5. This is a great match up.

And more people need to be watching this, even if it is just so you can see all the times USA decides to show us Ms Brooklyn Decker, the soon to be Mrs. Roddick.

Gael Monfils has improved tremendously. He is playing some outstanding tennis. Currently, he's whipping Nalbandian. The road doesn't get much easier for him with taking on the winner of Fish and Blake and then, likely, Nadal.

Federer looking good. Beating Radek Stepanek at 3, 3, and 2 is no small feat.

makes me happy. Since there are no legit US chances, I'm all in for Federer.

Me too. Although Nadal has a couple of tough matches ahead of him. American Querrey next and then the winner of Fish/Monfils, all of whom are playing the best tennis of their lives. I would love to see and American make it through that, however unlikely.

Roddick actually played well today, a little rollercoasterish, but that's Andy Roddick. If he makes to Djokovic I might start wavering on my opinion of Roddick. That could be a very exciting match.

Of course, Djokovic could definitely have his hands full against Cilic. Cilic will probably break the top 15 and possibly top ten by mid next year.

I figured Cilic would give him a good run, but not challenging the baseline call in the third set on break point was a big mistake. The ball was in and he would have got back on serve. He's gonna have to grind it out now.

he's also going to have to check his ego and attitude. If he's not careful he could crumble.

Also, I could have went without that weird Streisand interview on Agassi from however many years ago. That gave me the heebee jeebies.

LOL. I'm with ya. It gave me the creeps back then and still does.
Looks like it's possible that we'll see Roddick and Djok play if they both win their next matches. Roddick has Gonzales and Djok has Robredo.

Good matches coming up early today. Fish and Monfils is likely to be a very good match. Nadal and Querrey after that. Of course, I can only listen online since every year in Memphis they opt to show Jerry's kids telethon rather than the tennis.

*edit: I think I found a stream at channelsurfing.com.

I just jumped on the us open website, this Querrey kid only 20, and 6ft 6in. I'm not sure he will beat Nadal. I hope he gives him a run for his money. I would love to see a Roddick Djov match, is it me or does djov seem arrogant.

Djov is definitely cocky. He thrives on his emotions, and I almost thought last night he was going to let them get the best of him. Cilic made some incredible return serves last night to keep that game so close.

nice to see you here VG. It's been a great tourney on the men's side so far. It's hard for me to watch the women's side knowing Ana left so early....
