Long Cove, Palmetto Dunes, Harbor Town, Colleton River and Haig Point (Daufuskie Island) are all there. Long Cove is tough as hell to get on, but if you can find a way, it's worth the effort. Harbor Town would be 2nd IMO, but you need to hit irons well while there.

I played the River Course close to Augusta National yesterday. It has held some Hooters Tour events. You ever played there while down for The Masters BPV?

One that is a little easier to get on but still a quality design is Crescent Point. It's a Palmer design that is actually on the mainland just before the bridge. Also, for pure fun golf, Hilton Head National and Olde South good places to go throw up a low number.

Best place I played was not expected. When I was TDY to the United Arab Emirites in 2003 I was able to play at the Abu Dhabi Golf Course By Sheraton. Here is a link to the course

Golf in Dubai - The Abu Dhabi Golf Club managed by Sheraton and only a 1 hour drive from Dubai

The clubhouse was unbelievable. One of the courses is stadium lit so you can play at night. We played in the day, the heat took a little out of you but otherwise an awesome experience.

Also in the same TDY, I was able to go to Dubai, passed the Emirites Golf Club, a really nice course as well.

I just remembered that I left the courses at Barton Creek off the list. I don't think they would crack the top 5, but they certainly hold their own in the next grouping. I played both Foothills and Canyons, and they are both terrific golf courses, and it is hard to beat Austin for after golf fun. The only drawbacks were 1) the hotel, though nice, needed renovations, and 2) it averaged 184 degrees when I was there.
