The Open Championship

about time to get the talk about major #3 going.

i read where the course was lengthened 155 yards since the last Open Championship at Royal Birkdale and will play as a par 70 at 7173 yards.

thoughts about the course? thoughts about the players? can Sergio take what he learned last year and win this year?

The Open Championship 2008

exciting and easily the most unpredictable of all the majors.

I'm thinking Kenny Perry.....oh, wait a minute. I'm a huge KP fan, but just don't like that he's skipping this one. I understand, but don't like it at all.

I don't understand. I think it's a retarded decision.

at the time he made his schedule, i don't think he figured he'd be a lock for the Ryder Cup team when the British Open rolled around. he's playing courses that fit his game because his goal is play the Ryder Cup and i can't say as i blame him. golf is an individual game and each player has his own goals.

i don't like it either, but as with bpv, i understand.

they had a good piece tonight on Stuart Appleby 10 years later on SportsCenter tonight. i can't even imagine what a guy like him has had to go through. i guess he would be a sentimental favorite.

dude's a high ball hitter and plays American style target golf. Trundling the ball, little chippies and pure touch just aren't his game.

He's the best driver of the ball that there is and is a very, very good iron player. When his putter works, he can play with anyone in our target golf format. He's very unlikely to ever perform well on a links course in wind with rock hard greens.

I don't like the decision, but I definitely understand it.

what bugs me is all the so called 'experts' who are coming out of the woodwork to take shots at the guy. the local golf blowholes were talking about this subject today and one of them was absolutely convinced that he will regret this decision.

i wanted to call in but they ran out of time with the segment.

I respect that the Tour is a free agent sport, and that the players set their schedule. The season is long, and it's only fair that the guys decide for themselves.

That said, he skipped the US Open as well. I'm eligible, I'm playing.

In the end Perry's a great story this tear, why take shots at the guy.

Mickelson's short game should help in these winds right?..

Ernie... well I'll always be pullin for Ernie. Love his attitude.

* edit. Just realized the scores... surely they're not done so soon...

never seen mickelson fare well on slow greens or in the wind.
