I'm just saying if she ever wants to get in that category, she has to learn how to win when her "A game" isn't on. As we discussed during the French, power is her game, but she was missing everything today, why not go up to the net and try to create something? She hardly even tried. It looked over during the first set, I was honestly surprised Sharapova held on as long as she did in the second. |

He took Germany to win three games in a row, which I thought unlikely, but now he's 2/3 of the way there. And now that it's down to one game, I sure don't feel great about Spain. |

| Didn't expect Maria to have two crappy tourneys in a row. I figured she was due for a good showing. Oh well. |

| I'm not one bit surprised, but Andy Roddick is out of a major very early yet again. |

Does anyone believe that Connors resigned "to spend more time with his family"?
I personally believe Roddick and Connors both knew nothing was working out so they just gave up. I don't see any US male on the horizon that might get a major anytime soon. Donald Young is about the best hope and he's probably 3 years away minimum at even getting recognized when he goes out in public.

Now his return game still sucks, his crap backhand is better but not a weapon, he can't play at net and his forehand is now like Nalbandian. Aside from his serve, he has nothing to beat people with any more. So he'll break little and his rough service games will see him lose more than 50% of his 2nd serve points and lose his arse.
I just don't get it. His forehand and serve made him a beast. Maybe it wasn't % tennis, but it made him one of the best. Now, if he doesn't serve out of a tree every day, he's likely to lose. |

Now, if he doesn't serve out of a tree every day, he's likely to lose. | I think people figured out how to take his forehand away from him and make him vulnerable. I sort of understand how Connors tried to prepare him, but I would have made sure and kept the forehand as an absolute weapon. It's gone now as are any hopes he has at winning another major.
In the presser, Roddick actually said he could train less and become lazy and still probably be a top ten tennis player but he doesn't want that, he wants another major. I thought it was a bit cocky, but who am I to judge. There's a reason I never made it as far as him. |
