Some guy emailed me that this opens the door for Mickelson to win two majors in a row.

Huh?

Mickelchoke isn't going to win two more majors in his entire career, much less in a row.

If Tiger has been playing on a bad leg for this long, does this mean that he could possibly be more accurate off of the tee in the future?

I completely agree. I bet this ends up being good for golf in the long run. If a few guys can step up and play really well in the Tiger absence then perhaps they can give Tiger something to focus on...

I don't like Mickelson, but that's an absurd comment.

The guy is massively talented and, like Tiger, when he reins in his driver, can win anywhere. US Opens at Pinehurst suit his game well, Augusta suits his game, St. Andrews should work well for him. Just doesn't make sense to count out a guy with the length he has and otherworldly short game.

Not necessarily, but it's not like phil is pushing him.

I'm with law, phil may have the game-but he has proven to be too much of a headcase.

No one has pushed him on a consistent basis. I think he pushes himself.

same was true prior to his 3 victories. Same was said of Tom watson prior to his knocking down a slew of them. Mickelson keeps knocking at that door and it will open again.

This isn't a diss on Tiger, but BPV, it's not like Tiger has been the Tiger of the PGA Tour during the Ryder Cup events. While I agree it sucks for the US, I don't know that it destroys any chance we might have had.

but at Valhalla where he won and on rocket fast greens, he would easily be the guy to beat.

He hasn't been great in Ryder Cup, but the alternative is the number 13 guy on the list, and that's a huge fall off.

I can't argue with the 1-13 deal, but I've heard Tiger was the man to beat at just about every Ryder Cup I've heard him being in. Of course, even back home, I don't think the US stands much of a chance again this year, Tiger or no Tiger.
