I always thought he was very classy. Thoughts and prayers to his family. We could sure use a Jim McKay in todays talent pool of casters.

As the years go by I see many of the faces in sports who, when I was a kid and in my 20's were relevant and on the cutting edge of the world of sports. McKay was the face of the Olympics in the 70's when I feel they had huge credibility, you might say purity of sports. All things change with time and in your time enjoy those who make things enjoyable because as we see all things pass in time. RIP Mr. McKay.

"Spanning the globe to bring you the constant variety of sports--the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat..."--this phrase and that unfortunate skier who illustrated the agony of defeat are indelibly marked in my childhood memory. A true professional, you will be missed. RIP Jim McKay

Rip!

I always loved the Wide World of Sports. He was THE FACE. Coverage of all those Olympics. No sports announcer will ever come close to his classyness.EX. (Munich Olympics), if you don't remember, you should read about it. He handled that situation with such class.

During the tributes, they played the intro to Wide World of Sports. That theme song was so familiar but forgotten at the same time. Good memories of Jim McKay.
