2. Seems like I've heard rumors of the team maybe leaving Nashville. Hopefully this is still not in the works. Anyone clear this up for me please?
3. I'm still a hockey noob so while I know the rules for the most part and such, it's a little less clear on players and coaches. Seems like Jonesey and many others are very knowledgeable. If we can get some good hockey talk going, I'm sure I could pick up pretty quickly. |
The Preds are safe for now because the city agreed to renegotiate their lease with the Sommet Center. The city put out 5 million dollars to keep the Preds in Nashville plus the new ownership is from Nashville so they will keep the team here too. Nashville also had them add a clause in the contract so that if they did leave at a later time it would cost the team several millions of dollars to the city. Actually Kansas City was one of the cities trying to land them in their new Sprint Center. |

Meh.
I'm tired of the "at least we made the playoffs, good for us" mentality of this team.
Turmoil or not, Trotz needs to go. 0-10 in road games in the playoffs, we didn't look like we belonged on the same ice as Detroit these last 2 games.
Sad thing is, we have no real forward prospects that look to crack the lineup.. expect more of Rich Peverley and Brandon Bochenski on our top 2 scoring lines.
We need a first line winger to play with Arnott and Dumont.
We need Erat to not disappear for 10 game stretches.
We need Dumont to not disappear for 10 game stretches.
We need Defensemen that will stand the other team up at the blue line.
Greg deVries needs to be released.
Greg Zanon needs to be released.
Ryan Suter needs to get his head out of his ass.
Dan Ellis needs to be resigned.
Chris Mason needs to be traded for whatever we can get.
That's all the venting I have right now. | We need some forwards and some offense in general. I would agree with most of that list except for Zanon. He is great in front of the goal and always sacrifices his body. We could also use a couple of more big/quick bodies. |

But I'd rather not take away a team from Nashville. Plus, I may be in Nashville anyway. |

| Trotz is a great coach.
..in the regular season.
He has had a team in the playoffs 4 times, and has exactly 0 road wins and 0 series wins. We have won 6 games in 22 tries.
6-16 in the playoffs.
We have been the 8 seed twice, and both of those series went 6 games, both vs. Detroit.
We have been the 4 seed twice, and both of those series went 5 games, both vs. San Jose.
Any way that you spin it, Trotz has been an EPIC failure in the post season. His inability to matchup on the road and our anemic power play (which cannot be blamed on the assistants) not to mention the 40 line combinations he comes up with in a game, allowing no chemistry to develop between players.
Seriously, I can go on and on about Trotz, but please do not try to tell me I am not knowledgeable about the game of hockey.

| every coach will mix and match his players in the playoffs. big deal. they had 82 games to work on chemistry.
like i said, your team was garbage when the year started. the fact that not only did they make the playoffs, but won two games, was impressive. |

| People still play hockey these days? That's news to me.
I've been to a Predators game and all I can remember was "Fang Fingers" in all its gayness... |

| Preds re-up on Trotz. Clearly they think he has to go. |

It was actually a good move to spread what playmakers we had out. We are not built for the playoffs and we will continue to see these results until that changes. We are a defensive oriented team and need more goal scorers. We surpassed the expectations for this year and even making the playoffs was a huge example of over achieving with the roster we had. |

Advantage:Golf. | And people who actually like hockey. My great grandmother used to watch golf. She said it was because the lawns were pretty. Funny how so many years later I can remember stuff like that............ Note: I am not downing golf just reflecting on a memory! |

Advantage:Golf. | i would be curious to see the numbers in the Nashville market between the specific people watching the hockey game and those watching golf. i may be wrong, but i would bet that more people in the Nashville market wanted to watch the Preds.
that's all i think the original poster was referring too.
yeah, in the grand scheme, we all know golf is superior to hockey in terms of ratings. |
