According to a friend of mine who is a Memphis booster. He was in Birmingham for the game. After the game, the Memphis players ran out onto the court to celebrate. As they were leaving the court near their tunnel, the guy in the orange jump suit through a small whiskey bottle at seldom used Memphis big man Pierre Niles. This booster also claims the fans were spitting and hurling anything they could get their hands on at the team as they left the floor. He states for a fact it was Pierre Niles, who has only played in a few games this season. So even if he got suspended I doubt it would be a big blow to them. I don't agree with touching a fan at all, but I don't know what I would do if I was on the court and someone hit me with a whiskey bottle...

All fans are classless, doesn't mean you can slap them.

Seriously it wasn't a slap. it was a shove in the face because the guy was spitting on him and calling him n***** and also hit him with a bottle...seriously if that doesn't get at you, you have no cahones...and don't tell me anyone outside of Jesus H. Christ would have doen anything different.

you're held to a much higher standard as an athlete. Does any player just run into the crowd and beat the hell out of any guy who drops the n-bomb on him?

were you there or is that what you're getting from other Memphis St fans. I have read a couple articles on the game and haven't seen slurs mentioned once. I have also not seen that guy in the pic being identified as the one throwing bottles or spitting. If he is then the police would probably like a word.

If you're an athlete, like or not you're held to a higher standard. Tell security some dude is spitting on you and they will take care of it. It isn't an athletes place to "shove" fans. I'm sure he's getting suspended no matter what the fan did to provoke him. Who did this now?
