I've been on a 4 year hiatus from the sport. I finally played last weekend and I'm addicted all over again I used to play woodsball every Sunday back in college- those were some really good times.
Who else enjoys paintball? |

| | Senior Member | I would have wanted to play, don't get me wrong.
But about 6 months ago I was watching ESPN and the National Paintball Finals came on. I found it very disconcerting that this was considered an organized sport, that it was being nationally boradcast, and that evidently people watch it.
Its basically grown men playing "Army," right? And the only difference between it and what I did when I was 7 is that now we have proof that "I got you! I got you! You're dead!"
Like I say, looks like fun. But let's not get carried away. |

At least the LPGA offers occassional glimpses of the likes of Natalie Gulbis, Paula Creamer, and Morgan Prssel. |

Like I say, looks like fun. But let's not get carried away. | The ironic thing about what you are saying is the majority of the paintball community is trying to distance themselves and the sport from it's "combat" roots.
They wear crazy looking jerseys, call their guns "markers", and run around on brightly colored fields with Nascar-like sponsorship everywhere.
I'm one of the few that disagrees with this direction. I'm against disguising the sport from what it really is: simulated combat. I'm all for gearing up in camo, hitting the South GA trails, and stalking my buds for a few hours.
If you've ever wondered what it is like, by all means, give it a go! The adrenaline spike you get from paintballs flying past your head at 300 feet per second is addictive.

I think something more like, oh, I don't know, how about "paralyzingly terrifying" -- might be more appropo. |
