A Thought

If you're the AD at South Carolina, why wouldn't Larry Brown be the first person you call about replacing Dave Odom?

Makes sense to me. Plus, that would seem to fit in with their last couple of coaching hires in football.

My guess is that Eric Hyman is just too dumb to do something so smart.

I don't know that I'd even glance at the job if I were Larry Brown, but I'd certainly make the call if I were Hyman. I agree with your earlier comments that Bob McKillop would be a fantastic hire for South Carolina...but, he doesn't even seem to be a long-shot candidate at this time.

All the focus seems to be on Gregg Marshall. If he's the guy, then SC fans will have zero reason to complain when he loses...they've been hoping to get him for years.

I've heard Anthony Grant's name quite a bit. I think he'll be a fine coach, and they could certainly do a whole lot worse....which allows me to segue to names like Matt Doherty and Alex English...if Hyman considers either one of those guys, then he's got no business running an SEC athletic department.

To be honest, if I'm trying to fill a head coaching job in basketball, I would call Larry Brown regardless of where the job is.

If I'm South Carolina, I make a strong push for Bob McKillop at Davidson.

If I was South Carolina, I would just give up on everything except Women's Equestrian

As a Davidson alum, I love McKillop, and though I'd hate to see him leave DC, I'd be thrilled that he finally got a shot at a big-time program. And of course Larry Brown would be great, but does anyone seriously think he'd take that job?

My mind immediately went to Gregg Marshall. I know he just started at Wichita St., but with his connections in SC and his coaching skills, I think he could bring that program back.

Don't you think some NBA teams are going to be giving him some calls at the end of this season?

One would think, but I never overestimate the intelligence of some NBA teams' intelligence. If you're looking for a new coach, it's probably because your team is bad. That doesn't happen by accident.
