| Golf Channel's Kelly Tilghman Suspended For 'Lynching' Remark To paint the picture: Co-Anchor Nick Faldo was jokingly saying, in regards to Tiger's dominance, that the other players should gang up on him and rough him up a bit. Tilghman chimed in with 'Yeah, lynch him in the back alley.'
It was clearly a joke, and they moved on.
Enter: Al Sharpton calling for her immediate firing. "Lynching is not murder in general, it's not assault in general," Sharpton said. "It's a specific racial term that this women should be held accountable for. What she said is racist. Whether she's a racist ... is immaterial. She's a broadcaster. The channel has to be accountable to the public."
Tilghman, known to be a class act, has been friends with Tiger for 12 years. He picked her for a recent demonstration that he did using Nike equipment. He has already publicly stated that he knew she didn't mean anything by it: case closed.
The Golf Channel has suspended her for two weeks for the statement.
Thoughts? |

| for some reason, when Sharpton starts speaking about something I am instantly on the other side. He just wants to hear himself speak.
Poor choice of words but I doubt she meant any harm. |

| Two definitions: lynch /lɪntʃ/Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[linch]Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation –verb (used with object) to put to death, esp. by hanging, by mob action and without legal authority.
[Origin: 1825–35, Americanism; v. use of lynch in lynch law ] lynch (lĭnch) Pronunciation Key
tr.v. lynched, lynch·ing, lynch·es
To execute without due process of law, especially to hang, as by a mob.
I don't see anything about race anywhere in those definitions. I personally think Mr. Sharpton and his partner Mr. Jackson need to mind their own business. If anybody is racist, it's those two clowns. |

| There is no doubt that she was inciting all of the Whiteys on the PGA tour to lynch Tiger.
That being said, a suspension is inevitable, no matter what the intentions of the remark were. It is the time a place that we live in. |

I picture a cowboy at the end of the rope whenever I hear it.." |

| A professional TV sports anchor should know better than to make a joke about lynching the only African American in golf.
I'm not one for political correctness, and I'm no fan of Al Sharpton, but Tilghman's comment was just plain stupid. |

| The world will be a better place when Al Sharpton stops talking.
Suspending this woman is stupid too. I am dissappointed with the PGA for doing that. Grow some.

. | why do you refer to kitty as "african-american?"
why does al sharpton, who is black, take offense and come to kitty's defense?
iirc, kitty's father was half black and half asian. kitty's mother was all asian. what does that add up to?
on kitty's application to stanford, he listed his race as "asian."
what asian implication does the word "lynch" have?
those are my thoughts.
