| not too mention there's several other schools in the conference don't play football.
ETSU going to the Dance > going to the 1-AA playoffs
so the golf center is at Pine Oaks or no?

| no, the golf center is on campus. On Southwest Avenue, the road that goes from the Culp Center to Cherokee Rd. Same road you take to go to the astrology thing.
I really don't think ETSU is in any position to bring back football anytime soon. |

| behind Buc Ridge? i lived there one year.
sorry i keep asking questions. i'm just trying picture where everything is. it sounds like i really need to take a swing around campus next time i'm there. it's nice to hear they're being pro-active with their campus.
i guarantee if they had a nice basketball arena i'd come up for 2-3 games a year. |

| you're in the right general vicinity, yes. As far as I know, and Insider will know more, it's only for the golf teams. I did get to visit it. It's a very nice range facility. I would start with tearing down the Dome, building a parking garage and putting a good arena somewhere else, maybe just off campus if need be instead of all the other complexes, but what do i know?
I think giving the fans a reason to come back to ETSU basketball would be the best way to drum up interest in the athletic dept as a whole. |

The soccer stadium and its practice fields are on the west side of what was the outdoor walking track and the old baseball field close to the railroad bridge. The tennis center will be just to the south of that off of Seehorn Road. The track facility will be just east of where the old track was, between the large parking lot and the Basler Challenge Course. Softball is behind the Kroger shopping center, between Kroger and the apartments. Quote:

Are they still planning on using that parking lot next to the old furniture factory for the said baseball stadium? It would have some incredible views of Buffalo Mtn if they did. | I don't know anything about an old furniture factory, but the current site being looked at is across State of Franklin from campus at the corner of S.o.F. and Tennessee Avenue (across from Mullican Flooring). The Cardinals weren't really part of the problem before, mainly the city; and barriers are falling there. Expect a ground breaking sometime in early '08.
The design and architecture of the facility are supposed to help connect campus and downtown. Hopefully, the added parking and retail space will also generate some new businesses along State of Franklin in that dead zone between campus and downtown.
Personally, I would rather see the stadium on campus, between Vest Dr. and North Dossett Drive, beside the CPA. Closer to students, tons of parking, etc. Although, the way the design is now does provide some awesome views of the mountains. Quote:

The current plan is to put a large parking garage where the parking lot/tennis courts are now, behind the education building. That would open up the large parking lot at the corner of State of Franklin and Bell for a possible arena site in addition to the current location of the dome. So many sports currently use the dome, that all of these other facilities are needed before the dome can be torn down.
Thanks for the info about ODU's Constant Center. I have an old friend that works up there, may have to go visit him and check out the arena sometime.

As I said in the previous post...the program has been gone for almost 5 years, and won't be back in the near future. I think a lot of these people need to simply get over it, move on, and get a life. If you love football so much, please support your local high school program with the same intensity you have used to blast ETSU. It would be much more positive and productive.

| not going to quote your post Insider, but the old parking area next to Mullican flooring is where i was speaking. I think the views will make it better than anywhere else they can plan on putting it. Would be a win for the both the University and the city.
When I worked as an intern for the Cardinals, I remember hearing that St. Louis didn't want to pay a lot of money towards the stadium, but would chip in. I also remember that the city could've cared less about doing it. I'm guessing though, they see the success Greenville is having with their stadium and are hoping to capitalize. Especially if they can get money from St. Louis and ETSU to help out.
Realizing that tennis, track and basketball all use the Dome makes sense that everything needs to be upgraded, but I'd still start with the arena and work my way down the list and tear down the Dome in the end.

The last time I carried a football was in 1972. However, my son graduated from ETSU in 2006.
