2007 Surprise Teams. Phil Steele also picks "surprise" teams much like Rutgers of 2006, Boise State of 2006, etc.

9. Missouri (11-2, only lost to OKLA, Cotton vs. ARK)
10. Oregon (8-4, #4 Pac10, Sun Bowl vs. USF)

Phil Steele's Top 25:

1. USC
2. LSU
3. Oklahoma
4. West Virginia
5. Michigan
6. Texas
7. Louisville
8. FSU
9. Virginia Tech
10. Penn State
11. Georgia
12. Hawaii
13. South Carolina
14. Florida
15. Ohio State
16. Wisconsin
17. Alabama
18. Oregon
19. Missouri
20. Texas A&M
21. UCLA
22. Nebraska
23. TCU
24. USF
25. Tennessee

Thoughts?

Looks like Phil really rolled the dice on Florida State being good this year. He nailed Missouri being a good football team. I don't think anyone saw Louisville coming. He was also very high on Penn State, Texas A&M, UCLA, Nebraska, and Alabama.

I also expected FSU to be much better. Picking Bama to improve was a good bet, even though it didn't happen. The only thing I notice is that Phil made the mistake most people did, expecting Michigan to be anything more than Ohio State's Thanksgiving dinner.
