| Kirk Herbstreit: Just a little wacky IMO. I overheard the former Ohio State qb saying last night on ESPN, saying(not verbatim) "Not only is the Ohio State and Michigan game the biggest rivalry in college football, but it compares to the Yankees and Red Sox rivalry of all times, that scale of rivalry". |

| In all seriousness...it means very little and next to nothing among most college football fans I know. |

| Not really anymore serious than Alabama/UT, Alabama/Auburn, Ole Miss/Miss. St. , FSU/Miami etc. It's just the most overhyped and talked about rivalry in college football. The players and fans in some of the other rivalries are just as crazy about their rivalries.. but since OSU/Mich. both are good teams usually it gets all the pub.
I don't think you can call a rivalry the 'biggest rivalry'. Well, sure the media can and will make you believe it. For all we know that Amherst/Williams rivalry is the most meaningful and has the most passion.
That was just Herby being a Buckeye homer. |

| I agree - that's why people think it's the 'biggest and best' out of all the rivalries. |

| Agreed that the game means nothing this year because the Big 10 is so weak no one really cares who wins it....But, as far as football rivalries that's a pretty storied one, I for one will not watch one minute of it on Saturday...But, I guess I am hoping that Mich wins so UT can climb up a couple spots in the rankings...

| not to be a homer but the aTm vs Texas rivalry was pretty good and heated up untill 1999 when the stack fell. Although, Texas has dominated the matchup for years, the game and 2 weeks prior to it are filled with tradition that is unsurpassed imo. Maybe not the oldest. Maybe not the ugliest. Maybe not the national attention getter, but still a pretty darn good game. No better OR less of another rival with a few exceptions. But every "homer" is going to say that. Herbstreit was just being a homer and thats ok too. We all are to a point.

| This is to be expected from Herbstreit. Last year he predicted that Vandy would beat us. Vandy beat Tennessee two years in a row!?! |
