BCS Bull: PAC10/BIG10 Unfairness

Look out LSU and Oklahoma you are about to get screwed in the BCS Championship. Oregon has an easy schedule from here on out and will crush their remainding foes (Arizona, UCLA and Oregon State). They have quietly become the media darlings, and they do have a good team. Meanwhile LSU (and likely OU) wins out but has to play in the conference championship game possibly losing or struggling unimpressively to finish 12-1 resulting in Oregon winding up #2 in the BCS poll behind Ohio State (another team not playing in a conference championship game).

My point is this; there should be extra points to playing in the conference championship in the BCS poll so that no team with a identical loss record, say Oregon at 11-1, should be picked over an LSU or Oklahoma at 12-1.

LSU takes care of business and they'll play in the NC game. OSU is pathetic and likely to lose to UM. Oregon will likely win out and be there, but I like the pollsters to move OU ahead of them in the end.

How are any of them justifying keeping KU out of the hunt, given they're from a BCS conference and posted 76 on Neb yesterday?

Oregon will jump some people if ASU, USC & Michigan win out & SEC teams keep keep losing to each other. OKie State puts the Jayhawks out this week.

I like Oregon better than OU anyway

I wouldn't worry about Kansas. Even if OK State doesn't beat them this week, they will have to play Oklahoma in the Big 12 Championship Game.

The interesting thing will be if the Jayhawks beat OU for the Big 12 Championship game. Then chaos will reign...

Oregon vs. Kansas for the National Championship

Let's not jump the gun. All 4 of those teams could easily be beaten. None of them are flawless.

if we're jumping the gun, then any single debate on the national champy game should be banned.

Oregon has done just as much to be in that #2 spot as anybody else. Their one loss is to a pretty good opponent on a weird, last second fumble, and they have quality wins against USC, ASU, and Michigan.

All LSU and OU had to do was take care of business against Kentucky and a .500 Colorado team and we wouldn't be having this discussion, but they didn't; they put themselves at the mercy of the voters. Oregon's loss is just as good or better, and so are their wins.

BC is probably out, and I'm not sure they can run through Maryland, Clemson, Miami, and then the ACCCG without another loss anyway, but other than that I'm not sure how you separate the teams from power conferences with 1 loss. If they all make it with only one blemish, LSU, Oregon, and whoever wins the big 12 are all going to have pretty good cases. Picking any of those three over the other 2 really isn't unfair.

I wouldn't. If they beat Mizzou and Oklahoma to win the Big 12 and finish undefeated, I'd have them in the game. If Missouri wins out, I think they have to enter the discussion as well, right in the mix with the other 1 loss-ers.

The thing that cracks me up is that TOSU has essentially already earned their BCS bid. They are playing in the championship, but we just don't know who they are going to end up playing against (LSU, OU, Oregon). All of the above three teams will beat TOSU. LSU and OU will just plain destroy TOSU. I just can't wait till vegas puts the line up....I'm going to grab it immediately before it moves 2 points.

The conference with 11 teams is WEAK this year. I mean really really weak.

Michigan will kick their arses back to Columbus and the fans in Ann Arbor will be begging Carr to stay.

Don't count out West Virginia just yet either ;this is after all the craziest college football season ever

I think OSU will finish unbeaten. Oregon is deserving of the title game if they win out...

I certainly agree with the last part. The Big 10 is absolutely awful...

But I wouldn't be surprised to see OSU beat LSU. Jim Tressel is vastly superior to Miles, and OSU won't be unprepared like last year. I'm not sure LSU will even win out. I think the team with the best chance to beat OSU is Oklahoma.

I wouldn't be surprised if Illinois or Michigan beats OSU. The fighting Zookers aren't horrible by any means this year. They have lost 3, but those were to Mizzou by 6, Iowa by 4, and Michigan by 10(tie game going into the 4th). Benn is an absolute load at WR(he will be AA by the time he is gone), Mendenhall is extremely underrated, and Williams is a very capable QB. Their defense is pretty good too.

Michigan, on the other hand, has completely turned their season around after the first 2 games and Carr may be able to escape being fired with a win in this game.

I agree that Carr has to beat OSU, but people get the impression that because OSU got drilled by Florida that they are just an overrated fraud. This is certainly not the case, and Tressel is a top 5 if not top 3 coach in the country.
