Georgia has lost their last five SEC-east division games in a row. Is Marck Richt's seat starting to get warm?

I didn't think about it until I read Spurrier's quote in the paper, but I know things wouldn't be to happy around here if we were 0-5 in our last five divisional games.

Richt is a quality coach with a strong program but this losing streak is not a good sign. However, I would bet he'll get things going in the right direction....unfortunately, because I hate Georgia--some of the worst fans I've ever encountered!

I agree. At least Gator fans have a reason to be overly arrogant. I've made quite a few of my buds eat some freshly cooked crow this weekend

This league is getting overcrowded with competitive teams. I long for the good old days when GA and FL were nothing and there was No USC in the SEC. Hell, now even KY and VU have stepped up.

Outside of the conference you have teams like Appy State beating Meecheegin. Folks, looks like parity is here to stay and we'll need to find a way to deal with it. Richt, Weis and dozens of other coaches did not go from genious to idiot overnight.

it's amazing what Brady Quinn and David Greene can do to make coaches look like gods. every coach needs difference makers on their team.

I find this thread rather ironic...it was just last week that many folks on this site were talking about the genious of richt while the game had passed by the older coaches, CPF being one of them. I agree that richt is one of the better coaches with a strong team and tradition, but we do need to face the facts that the SEC East is a beast of a division, with the usual lower teams getting better. GO VOLS BEAT florida!!!

I have never once called Richt a genious. I think he is a solid coach, but he has been way over-rated in my book.

Georgia will struggle this year, and probably turn things around for a short while. Over the long haul though I think Georgia is in for a slide towards the mediocre direction.

Auburn is a team that is in DEEP doo doo. All their fabulous skill players are gone from the offensive side of the ball, and I am not at all impressed with their talent there. Their defense is not what it used to be either. Tubs and his staff have been praised mightly by many Vol fans for their genious, but give them another couple of years and I think that people will change their minds after several 6-6 type of years. While Auburn tanks in the west, I think that Bama will become more competative and replace them.

Richt will be fine. He beat 3 ranked teams to end the season last year. It was a rebuilding year with a new QB.
He's won 2 SEC Championships since 2002.
I'd say he's in good shape.

Whenever Fulmer loses to spurrier, it's ok for some reason....but let somebody else do it, and it's just soooo funny

No one has mentioned this yet, but props to the ole' ball coach who has put together (his own) a pretty solid defense in the midst of his years as an offensive genius.

Mark is a darn good coach and has an overrated quarterback in Stafford. 19 for 44 , 213 and 1 interception, no TD's. Perception is always worse than reality, and we are seeing in reality what Georgia is made of and what we are made of after Saturday.....the proof is in our league play! To this point we have measured our weakness against two totally different teams and defenses. We handled one's offense better than another, talent had alot to do with Cal's senior studed offense.

Off the subject a little here, but last night on Volnation Live, the questions were asked that may bring a balance to many of our board debates.

Looking at the schedule, what games are those that we should win and lose? Are the home games what we expect them to win, or the teams that are less superior than we are should be beaten? Vol Freak never got the answers concernign the schedule...which should be expected losses and wins now?

Because Georgia lost that game against USC, are we now supposed to beat Georgia because USC beat them or should we now beat USC because they looked strong. Both are home. We should beat UGA because they did already lose, and we should beat USC because they can be beaten.

USC embarassed Georgia in their own kitchen.

First defend our house!!!!, but I just have a feeling the Alabama, Arkansas and Kentucky games may spoil a decent season ahead of us.

Just some thoughts while I was thinking how overrated Georgia is.....

CPF has only lost to Spurrier once since 2000 and it wasn't very funny at all when that happened. Just ask Randy Sanders.

Richt has won two conference titles in the last five years after UGA went ~20 without one. That will (rightfully) keep a coach from having to worry about his job for awhile.
