| Fiesta Bowl Pass Interference Was it a penalty? YouTube - Ohio State vs Miami - Pass Interference? Replay + Analysis.
Try to ignore the comments of commentators or the person who posted the video.
I have argued this with about 100 Buckeye fans. I enjoy them getting angry too much to not bring this up every time I hear them talk about 2002. |

| I obviously said no. I always thought it was close and maybe Sharpe had interfered with him and then I saw it up close and Sharpe did absolutely nothing while the ball was in the air. People argue it was holding, but all contact before that seemed pretty incidental, and both guys were touching each other. I just think both Gamble and the official choked.

| Gotta love the ref's story of how he "replayed it in his mind to confirm his call." That was his explanation for the delay in throwing the flag. |

| That call is college football's version of the '72 Olympic Basketball Gold Medal Game. |

The call was pass interference. It shows how confident that ref was if he just let the other official change his mind like that. Rick Reilly did a great article on that. |

| It would have been a tough call on the field, but replay should pretty clearly show there was no pass interference. The video does seem to be correct about the facemask, but that's not what was called.

| I think his hand may have touched his face mask, but it didn't seem like Gamble's face or helmet even moved... I'm pretty sure he didnt' grab it or anything. In slow motion the it seems like his hand was up there for a while, when even Gamble didn't seem to notice. He just tried to come up with some excuse for the obvious dropped ball.
And all this time I have wondered why I disliked Gamble so much.. |

| I'm still not sure how Ohio State didn't lose 4 games that season... |

| | Maestro of Merge | ...and the way you know it's a bad call is to just watch who did and didn't throw the flag. The flag came in - very late - from the back judge. Yet the Head Linesman who basically spent the entire play 15 feet or less from the receiver and cornerback didn't see fit to throw a flag.
