Curtis Strange is easily the biggest a-hole commentator - in the history of golf. It's not even close.

Among other egregious actions, I've personally witnessed Strange cuss out a kid looking for an autograph after his round was over. When asked about it later he said it was because he had to get to the commentators booth and he was in a hurry.

That's odd; I met Curtis at a corporate event where he spoke, played a couple of holes with our group, and then hung out for about an hour afterwards. I know he was being paid for the appearance, but he seemed like a pretty nice guy.

I am waiting for Darren Clarke to get his shot in the booth. Hide the women and children.

I used to play at Country Cub of Virginia quite a bit and both Strange twins were members. Curtis practiced and played there every once in a while and was by most accounts, the biggest jerk in the club. Always had to hit balls on the opposite end of the range from everyone else and would complain if anyone was hammering them down there near him.

His arrogance aside, he did design an awfully nice third golf course for the Kingsmill resort over in Williamsburg.

My fellow VN golf faithful, I have played 3 rounds in 4 days....and lived to tell about it
Saturday I played with a guy that just moved down from atlanta at a water filled course in boca. I played the front in 4 over with a painful double bogey on a par 3. Just as I was hitting a huge gust of win took what looked like would be a beautiful 7iron into the drink. I hit a poor second and the rest is history. The 4 over looked better than the score...I played the back in an ugly 8 over where I somehow lost the ability to hit my middle irons with any degree of accuracy. It was also quite a bit more windy, but mostly I just didn't hit the ball well.
Sunday, my H.S. golf team playing brother and law and I played a muni in st. augustine. (the wife was photographing a wedding...) Those winds that you saw at the players....yeah, I was playing in worse. It was a consistent 30-40 miles an hour the whole time. I hit a 5 iron into a 135 yrd green. I shot 94ish much frustration and cursing at the golf gods.
Today I was back at home and played the same course as saturday. I shot a tidy 81 but didn't feel like I played great.

On a side note, I believe that I stated that I bought a used nvg2 off of ebay. Man, I have really been pounding that thing. I've hit several 315+ drives already and the best part is that I seem to have found my power fade once again, and the slice seems to be gone at least for now. That has allowed me to relax while hitting my other clubs perhaps just because of the psychological advantage of being in the fairway nearly every hole. Because of that, I hit a 3 wood off the fairway from 252 out to the back of the green...it was a great feeling. Golf is becoming much more fun again.

I got a club reshafted today. I broke it on the course a few weeks back. It was the first club I ever bought about 15 years ago. A RAM 7 wood Zebra model. It is a cheapo club, but it had a bit of sentimental value to me. The guy at the pro shop put in a used Taylor Made Burner reg. flex 3 wood shaft. I cannot wait to see how far I can rope that club.

I took two days off to play this week. I got nine holes in (in the rain yesterday). Played it at six over. Considering the slippery clubs, the fact that this was my second time playing in ten months, and the fact that I was pushing everything right I will take it. Suprisingly the short game and the putter were working well.

The rain is still here so my excursion will likely be limited to golf already played.

If 160 is all i get, I will be sorely dissappointed. I could smack it 200 yards with the original shaft.

Can you explain? Is it because it is used?

If your generating enough club head speed to hit a 7 wood 200 yards, you need an x flex shaft instead of a regular flex

That's discouraging. Hopefully it will work out, if not I guess I could always use it to fish balls outta the water.

because the spec shafts they use are really cheap and pulling it from another club probably made it worse.

200 is not an overly long 7 wood, but isn't the stuff of Regular Flex shafts either. You should probably look at some sort of decent new stiff shaft. Maybe an Aldila NV or NVS or UST ProForce V2. I think both have gotten fairly cheap.
