It does produce good numbers people-wise, but there is no big long term money in latin communities.
I'm not sure how you draw 3 million plus a season with a "small but hardcore fanbase."

I think they will eventually get a retractable roof stadium near, or on, the Orange Bowl site. I think the city is on the verge of pulling the plug on the OB.

You believe all that stuff in SI about the OB being underwater and such. If you read it.

Seattle hasn't drawn 3 million in 4 years. They drew less than 2.5 million in 2006 and ranked 15th.

There's also the question of why the world series is on so damn late? That time slot only works for the west coast... When the vast majority of people in the US live out east, not to mention the elite teams. The White Sox, Red Sox, Yankees, Cardinals, etc. Anaheim has been the only consistent WS contender out west.

I was at the OB multiple times for 'Canes games this year. It's not underwater, it's simply a dump.

2.5 million to watch a terrible team. That doesn't suggest they have a fanbase problem.

You can't do that in the OB, baby! They're from across the ocean, over there.

Couldn't read about the OB without thinking of that quote.

Advertisers pay more for commercial time that touches all time zones. People act like the ratings for the World Series have something to do withn when the games start. Ratings are driven by the teams participating. Nobody in Miami gives a flip about a Tigers-Cardinals World Series. Any Series that doesn't have a New York team is going to appear to fall short in the ratings.

It was taking into account global warming. It had like 20+ stadiums in the world that, according to some scientist, will be underwater at some point. Someone ganked my copy the other day so I have no material to reference.

Dolphins Stadium was also in there. Hell I think all of Miami was.

I remember hearing that after getting home after that game and thinking, "When did FIU move their campus to Madrid?"

Despite all this... I still wish Portland would get a baseball team. 2.1 million in the Metro area, and a hop, skip and a jump away from Eugene and Tacoma.

That would explain the riddiculous Dontelle Willis cover photo. I took that issue out of the mailbox, looked at the Table of Contents, and deposited it in the trash. If I want to hear junk science passed off as fact, I'll go see Al Gore's documentary.

Yeah... You know it's bad when guys on programs like Cold Pizza refer to cities like Detroit and St. Louis as "Small market." Of course, New York, Philly, Chicago, Dallas and Los Angeles are free from such nomenclature.
