Ok I guess, BUT an increased likelihood of bad weather at Players

Definitely sucks for the Players, but thunderstorms in Florida are just a way of life year round I guess.

It at least takes extreme heat out of the equation for the PGA and gives them a major a month.

Why would you say that? Spring Training goes on in FL during March without any problems. The rainy season doesn't begin until June.

The Players used to be played in March...before 2007.

Crazy that it's been ten years but I still get confused when it doesn't happen in March

Players is basically on the coast. Most of the spring training sites are inland

You can add to that list:

Braves in '18 or '19 in Charlotte Co.
Astros: Palm Beach
Nats: Palm Beach

Just for reference, the O's are now in Sarasota and the Rays are in Pt. Charlotte.

The only inland team will be the Tigers in Lakeland.

Now just go ahead and make the Players Championship a major.

i think the players consider it that anyway, w/out the official moniker, but i wonder how the Masters would feel about that....as they're the only major to have the tournament at the same local every year?

not sure if they have a say, but i'm sure they wouldn't want that "status" taken away from them.

the island vs. the 12th........
