Charging the court!!??

Ok..I am just going to go ahead and say it. I am going to get on my soapbox for ahwhile. I love Tennessee Basketball but my true heart lies in Duke. I lived for a good while in Durham so that explains that. I watched the tail end of the game tonight and Duke lost the game in OT. The fans went stinking nuts! They charged the court like a bunch of rabid dogs. Did they realize they just beat a Duke team that is EXTREMLY young and EXTREMLY overranked...yes i said it OVERRANKED. They are good, but I truely dont think number 10 in the country good. I remember when fans charged the court over last minute shots in the playoffs, or in football case when a kicker hit a clutch fieldgoal as time expired in the playoffs. Now it has been made just a mockery. I cannot for the life of me remember which teams it was, but a couple weeks ago a unranked team (but still a known team) beat a team that was ranked 20-something and they charged the court like a bunch of idiots. Then you get the idiots that start popping the jersey like they are some sort of God's gift to their school..Gimme a break. Or you got people like Major Wingate (not downing him, lord knows TN needs him this year) does anyone remember him celebrating on a dunk, only to find out that he missed it...i dont think i have ever laughed so hard in my life..and I am a TN fan...anyways, the point is...quit chargin the court every freaking time you have a win...Geeze..freaking annoyin as crap...

Did Coach K whine about it again after whining about Virginia Tech doing it, yet saying nothing about his team and some fans storming the court after Duke beat Clemson at home?

i agree 100%. i use to like coach K, but now not so much, its impossible to win at Duke because the opposing team doesn't get the calls Duke gets. It's not just home cooking, its way past that. Duke isn't that good this year.

I agree with that list. For some schools with great tradition it's just not for them. For schools like us, Virginia and many others I don't have a problem with it...Duke IS down and way overrated but they are still ranked tenth and they're still Duke...let the fans celebrate a big win.

agreed.

it's Duke for goodness sakes. Duke has had a strangle hold on the ACC for a while now and has dominated many a team in that conf.

beating them still means something to those schools, so i have no problem with it at all.

it was no different in 2000 when LSU fans stormed their feild after beating us in Baton Rouge. i think we finished 8-5 that year? but we had just got done winning two straight SEC titles, a NT and two straight BCS games.

in their mind.........we were TENNESSEE.......and it was a big deal. same thing here. this isn't the same Duke team people are used to watching...but it's still DUKE..........

I would add Kansas and UCONN to that list. Also, Memphis and Gonzaga fans should be prohibited by law from storming the court after any victory over a conference opponent.

i'm a huge duke fan. love everything about that basketball program. family ties to the area, plus as a little kid i idolized bobby hurley. That being said, i think any team not from the list above should be allowed to enjoy their moment of beating duke. I too agree that Duke is overrated this year, they need a PG and McBob is afraid of the paint. That being said, absolutley enjoy the moment and rush the court.

i would agreee with Kansas and UCONN as well.

somebody, perhaps Bill Simmons, wrote an article a few years back about rules for rushing the court. i wish i could find it. the teams i listed and hat listed were the only thing i could remember from that article. there were also stipulations involving current rankings and series records against opponents.

I'm gonna watch the Florida State/Duke game today to kill time before the big game, so I'll get to see if Duke rushes the floor after a stirring victory over FSU, if they win anyway.
