Would the OLD SWC be a BCS conference?

In honor of Arkansas week here is a hypothetical for yall....

If the old Southwestern Confrence still existed would it be a BCS conference?

The members were(with current conference):
Arkansas(SEC)
Baylor(Big 12)
Houston(Conf USA)
Rice(Conf USA)
SMU(Conf USA)
Texas(Big 12)
Texas A&M(Big 12)
TCU(Mountain West)
Texas Tech (Big 12)

I think so. Especially if you back to the days when Oklahoma in the conference. They cheated a lot in that conference, but they sure played good football.

You bet it would. That list is better than the Big East and just about as good as the Big 12. Pluse it would be a BCS conference because you have big time schools in Texas, Arkansas, Texas A&M and Baylor.

Oklahoma was never in the SWC. They were in the Big 8.

The presence of Texas alone would get them a BCS automatic bid.

Dangit . . . That's right. After I posted that I thought to myself "Wait a minute - then how did they play Nebraska every year?"

I saw Oklahoma mentioned as being in the SWC in another thread and thought that sounded wrong. However, after researching it, they were a member of the SWC... from 1915 through 1919.

I think with the Wishbone and probation, they just seem like such a natural fit for the SWC . . .

Barry Switzer was way too cool to associate with the likes of Darryl Royal and Grant Teaff.
