| | Absolut Orange | A twist for Fadeproof... I haven't been on all weekend. I looked around the threads and didin't se anyhting of this, nor Fadeproof since the Vandy incident. This isn't Vol ball talk per se, but i thought it's be fitting for the main page...
Question/Scenario:
Season: UGA already has 2 losses. One, a demoralizing whipping at home (no disrespect intended.) Two, a follow up embarrassing flatliner loss at home. Could of easily happened to anyone. (Good time for Vandy to be coming to UGA). A very tough remaining schedule with a real possibility, even if UGA turns it back on, to win/lose any combinatio of atleast 3 of those games. This could be a UT kind of '05 or worse for UGA.
Coach: We all know Richt is a very good coach. One of the better around IMO, especially in the SEC. We all know he has stated publicly in prior seasons of his committment to Dawgs football. But...He also has a cluase in his contract that allows for him to leave Georgia for only Miami w/o penalty if the job comes open.
Miami: After their dismal season, and their pathetic display Saturday against FIU, Coker is basically gone. I wouldn't be surprised if he has already been told privately if by one means or the other, he won't be at the U next year.
Decision...Would Richt leave UGA if if/when Coker is booted and if/when he is offered the job, especially since he made Miami a special stipulation in his contract with UGA. I say this tenderly as I am a Vol faithful, but if I had to choose between Dawg fans or Cane fans, I would take the Dawgs. Just curious with all the griping going down in Dawg country if it would make Richt think about invoking the U policy. The situation at UGA reminds me of Ole Miss.

| | VN GURU | I'm not fade, but I'll tell you this.
It would cost UM or any other school 7.5mil to buy out Richt after this season.
Mark Richt is not going anywhere. |

| | Bring back post junkies!! | Interesting situation. I don't see him leaving UGA for "The U". He is in a very good situation at UGA and I don't think he would leave there to go to a very bad situation in Miami. I think the only place I could ever see him going would be FSU when Bobby Bowden retires in about 30-40 years. |

| They will name a large piece of infrastructure for Mark Richt in Athens in 10-15 years. He is never leaving. Why give up all that to go somewhere you are crucified for not winning the National Championship?

| | I'm Your Huckleberry | Mark will soon have to answer the same question that CPF has on the horizon as well. How soon is he willing to make RG a defensive coordinator? CPF will have to make that decision about Troop if Cut leaves.
Based on what I have seen, I will concede that Richt would be in big trouble without RG. |

I saw in some UGA posts elsewhere of the Miami stipulation, but didn't know how to verify other then putting it out there. wasn't sure if an employer would let someone like Richt do that. I'm sure another U would have to pay out, but Richt himself would have had no penalty according to one poster. That's why I posted as a scenario and not absolute fact since I didn't know for sure.

| | The Minister of Defense | Can Garner cut it as a def coord? Mike Irvin said anybody can coach def if he has the players...run to the ball and hit somebody. I honestly think Troop could handle the O, esp after a year or so under Cut. |

He is trying to learn any and everything he can from one of the greatest offensive minds in college football. |
