Sad deal. His name was released before the family was notified.

Bad deal all the way around. :( It's a shame his name was released before his family got word and I'm sure it revoke alot of memories of 9-11. It makes the Yankees loss seem alot less important now. I don't follow baseball much anymore, was he a key player for them? I believe I've heard his name before somewhere.

He was a decent pitcher, but not really a key guy. You've probably heard of him because he's pitched for a lot of teams.

He pitched his best for the A's in his stint with them in 2001 and 2002.

He had a stretch in August of 2002 where in 6 starts he won 5 games pitching 45.1 innings allowing only 1 earned run in that span.
