I love the fact that $25M/season now buys you someone to place in the 8 hole!

I just saw where Steinbrenner is supposedly going to rehire Lou Piniella. You knew George couldn't avoid his old ways forever.

If it were not for one bonehead Mark Wohlers hanging curve ball, and the Yankees could have easily been the Braves of the nineties. They have been a charmed organization.

No lie . . . I was at that game. Dude has a 100 mph fastball and he gets beat by Jim Friggin' Leyritz on an 80 mph curveball. They blew a 2-0 series lead and went from one of the memorable teams of all time winning back to back World Series to a nice team that always flopped in the postseason.

I love it.

However, the media has finally succeeded in making me feel sorry for A-Rod. Anyone else hear/see that piece that Jeremy Schaap did on SportsCenter dedicated to blaming the lack of Yankee playoff success the last two years SOLELY on A-Rod? Geez, I didn't see any of the other All-Stars doing anything either...

FOX Sports - MLB - Steinbrenner labels Yankees 'sad failure'

i.e. We'll throw more money at it and hope it works.

I think Schaap is a hack living off of his father's reputation.
