living in North Carolina, i get to hear all this about Chuck Amato. He's now become a big clown around here, and wolfpack nation is pissed. This is one guy that i would not trade CPF for for anything....
After the Akron game he is asked "should a program like Akron beat a team like NCSU?" Chuck responed in fine fashion..."what kind of team? a team that won their conference last year. A team that went to and won a bowl last year?"....it was later discovered that Akron in fact lost the bowl game they played in, but nonetheless, a perfectly good response. BUuuuuut...he kept talking....and went on to later say "you know they allow non qualifiers there? Do you know what kind of players they are (that may not be exactly what he said, but close enough for the purposes here...but rest assured, he did call 'em out, as well as Louisville, for allowing Non qualifiers).
he got ripped big time in the media here....and rightfully so.
redemption was coming as they traveled to Southern Miss....except no one told USM....USM dismantled NCSU and won i think 27-10. and what does he say in his Monday presser about the game? not much. but he did call out the media for not asking John Bunting at Carolina the same questions. He did point out repeatedly that he's won more bowl games than any other NCSU coach. He did point out that they have made numerous improvements to the facilities, at the alumni and donors expense no less, and finally he decided to bench his qb and plug in the back up.
i know people have their hang ups about CPF...but good Lord, after reading and hearing the stuff coming out of Chucky Cheeses' mouth....i find myself at least being thankful we don't have Chuck Amato as our HC...wha a joke.
Talk about a guy that takes no responsibility and makes excuses...and he doesn't even hide it...i feel like he needs someone standing next to him while he's at the podium to remind him when to shut up....
