Erk Russell died this morning

A lot of you may not know who this is, but in the state of Georgia, he is an icon - former defensive coordinator for years at UGA and Head Coach at Ga Southern where he won multiple 1-AA National titles. He was a great coach and one of the most affable people you could ever hope to meet.

Tough news.

That's one eagle that was definitely an endangered species.
Don't make 'em like that anymore....

UGA could have saved themselves 10 years of mediocrity if they had just named Erk the head coach when Vince Dooley retired. Every defensive coordinator in the SEC would have spent the 90s trying to figure out the Flexbone.

You are correct. This is a sad day in Statesboro, and a sad day for college football fans. He was a good man.

While I am a Tennessee fan through and through, this man was a credit to all college football and will be missed by many.
