| UAB had a shot at OU UAB hung tough with Oklahoma; even had a brief 3 point lead in the 3rd quarter.
They got completely screwed in the fourth quarter. They were down by 7 and punted. They caused a fumble and recovered at about the 10 yard line. However, the ref said the play was blown dead. Replayed showed it was a clear fumble and that the whistle HAD NOT blown yet. Ref still said it was not reviewable though since he thought the whistle blew.

| That's terrible. If OU did lose, though... Well. Oklahoma losing home openers to non-BCS oponnents.
That statement is strange.

UAB played tough but in the end, Adrian Peterson was too much.
If I was an OU fan, I'd be worried. The QB was horrid.

| Thompson was horrible last year as well, in his half a game. They probably knew what they were getting...

| Bomar just started to hit stride last year with Oklahoma. They were looking pretty good.

The Big 12 was right there with the SEC from 2000-2004 (and in those 5 years, they were sometimes better than the SEC).

The SEC was the 2nd best conference in 1999, behind the Big 10, and slightly ahead of the Big 12.
In 2000, the B12 was the best conference, followed by the SEC in 2nd.
2001, the SEC was #1, with the B12 #2.
2002, the B10 was best, with the B12 2nd, and the SEC 4th.
2003, the SEC was again #1, with the B12 and B10 pretty much tied for #2.
2004, the B12 was #2, the SEC #3.
Yes, the 2005 B12 stunk, and the 2006 one won't be any better. But, the B12 had been only a smidge worse than the SEC from 2000-2004.
