And even if they were, it's a U23 competition

Brazil might be worth watching since their team at this comp will be fairly close to their World Cup squad, but that's about it.

I dont think it is a U23 tournament.

Edit: just remembered the 3 above 23 players allowed to play. My bad.

Some news and notes from the week...

- The Whitecaps organization is understandably cross about having Jay DeMerit go a full 90 against Chelsea in the All-Star game. Their captain now has just two days rest before going into Rio Tinto tonight to take on Real Salt Lake. I wouldn't be surprised to see the All-Star game expanded to more players.

- The man who went down and wound up causing DeMerit to play the full 90, Aurélien Collin will be out 2 weeks after suffering multiple facial fractures from a collision with Chelsea's Michael Essien.

- Some big moves on the Designated Player front: Columbus bought Argentinian striker Federico Higuain from CA Colón of Argentina's Primera División, and Seattle made multiple moves, trading Álvaro Fernández to Chicago Fire for an undisclosed fee, and immediately replacing him by purchasing former VfB Stuttgart standout Christian Tiffert from 1. FC Kaiserslautern.

Lost to Canada and drew with El Salvador. Didn't even make it to the knockout stage to actually qualify. Two teams qualified, we finished fifth.

Big win for RSL over Vancouver. Saborio tied for second in the league with 13 goals. No all-star bid for him, though.

I would also question the wisdom of running a full xi two days before a champions league match

iirc, that should benefit the Galaxy in the standings.

The goal by Honduras that eliminated Spain was set up, assisted and scored by three MLS players.

Just sayin
