Wow... this card is terrible. Guess UFC is banking on Faber fanboys to pay to see this.

I'm just gonna cross my fingers and hope for the best because I have no expectations for this card. I take that back. My expectations are that it will suck. So it should probably turn out to be alright.

Nobody even bothered to make a wikipedia page for it. That about sums it up.

They did the best they could do, the card changed 11 times due to injuries.

I know, but I think the only people that will be paying for it are Faber fans and people who buy every PPV. I'm going to watch, just not going to pay.

At the very least I'll get to pull against Faber. I know I'm probably in the minority and he shows really good sportsmanship at the end of fights but for whatever reason, I'm not big on him.

Now UFC on Fox(August 4th), I'm looking forward to that.

Mauricio Rua(20-6) vs. Brandon Vera(12-5)

Lyota Machida(17-3) vs. Ryan Bader(14-2)

Travis Browne(13-0-1) vs. Ben Rothwell(32-8)

Jamie Varner(20-6-1) vs. Joe Lauzon(21-7)

That would have made a much better PPV. Rua and Machida could both use a win with their recent losses and I think both will get the W. I like Shogun a lot so I'll really be pulling for him. I like this card from top to bottom.

Pearl, you are on my **** list! Haha

Nah, to each his own. Urijah is my favorite fighter. I really became a fan of MMA by watching him fight in the WEC, because back then those were the only fights you didn't have to pay for. (also made me a fan of Frank Mir, because he is an outstanding commentator) I worry about this fight for Urijah, but Bowles worried me, too and Faber destroyed him. I gotta pick Urijah to win regardless of what my head tells me. I do think Faber is a HUGE ste up in competition for Barao, which is usually a big factor.

I'm also excited to see Lombard finally get his chance in the UFC. I look for him to come out and look very impressive against Boetsch. He may get a title shot with a win, but I also wouldn't mind seeing him take on Bisping after this, just to shut him up.

Plus, Kongo is on this card. One thing is for certain, his fights aren't boring. So expect to see that one end quick one way or another.

Overall, this card isn't too good. Tbh, if Urijah wasn't on this card I probably wouldn't watch. But you definitely can't get mad at the UFC for it, they've had to re-schedule 15 million different fights because of scratches.

Hahaha.

Yeah, Kongo fights are good and even though I haven't seen Lombard, his record intrigued me so the fight against Boetsch could be interesting. And actually, Ebersole has won 11 in a row, 4-0 in the UFC. I'm not faulting UFC for the card but when you have to change that many fights and this is the card you end up with, I'd contemplate moving it back a month and take the fights originally scheduled for 150 and make that 149. They'd never do that but it's hard to pass this off as a PPV. If it wasn't for Faber's following, this card would be disastrous. I know he has a bunch of fans that will pay for this just because he's on it though. Other than that, I don't think they're going to get a lot of buys.

Yeah it's definitely not going to break any records or anything. Lombard has alot of intrigue around him, since he is getting pumped up by Dana as maybe the #1 contender if he wins. I don't think they'll lose money on it.

I'm also looking more forward to the UFC on Fox card. The LHW is my favorite division and any card with Rua or Machida I'm watching. However this isn't a bad card. The Lombard vs. Boetsch in my opinion is the most important fight because if Lombard wins big he may get the title shot. If you haven't seen Lombard yet, the guy is like out of a movie the way he beats people.

Anyone watch the weigh-in show on Fuel? They had Dominic Cruz in studio and he was definitely in douche mode. I swear I want to see him get destroyed more than anyone else in all of MMA. Dude is such a tool. And not only that, he fights like a *****.

I might just be getting spoiled. UFC has blown up so I'm used to 2-3 fights that are main event worth or one mega fight. The more I look at it, I don't think it's as bad as I made it out to but I don't know... we'll see. As of now, I can only think of one PPV that hard a worse card. I can't even remember what PPV it was and it might have even been a bunch of knock outs. My memory is shot at times haha

I'll skim back through and see if I can find which one it was.

Edit: I Know you say it's not a bad card but we're talking about what, 50 or 60 bucks? I'm glad to watch these fights but I wouldn't pay that for it. So I guess that's one reason I'd call it a bad card. Since teaming up with Fox, some of their free events are better than PPV. It's weird

Didn't see it unfortunately and it doesn't surprise me.

Naturally, I'm not a big fan of smaller fighters.

Not saying all are bad but I love guys that can finish. I know Dana does too and that's why we've seen a couple of weird decisions. Not fair to force a fighter to risk getting knocked out or tapped out but he's made it clear many times that you're better off not leaving it up to the judges.

There are plenty of great fights that go the distance but the ones where nobody does anything, ugh. And sometimes it feels like that's what happens with smaller guys since most don't have knockout power.

In a way, that makes me a ****ty fan of the sport but what can I say.... I love seeing people knocked out and submitted. More often than not, you get a couple of em each PPV. Regardless of the card on paper, that's really all I care about(unless fighters are willing to trade blows and put up a good fight while going the distance).

^ Adding to the above statement. That's why I don't like fighters like Rashad Evans and even though I barely watch boxing, boxers like Floyd Mayweather. I can't stand the jab and run tactic. Fighting is fighting and I know you have to be tactical but jabbing and running doesn't cut it for me. annnnd I'm not even a violent person. But these guys choose to fight and that's why I'm watching, to see them fight. Winning by decision because you jabbed them more times while the other guy walks away looking fine doesn't do anything for me. I want a clear cut winner and not because he tapped the guy on the chin a couple more times.

I can't find the thread for the other awful card I was referring to but I think it was UFC 142.

Ironically, all of the fights didn't require a decision and UFC 143 which had solid names, 4 of 5 fights were decisions.

So I would be wrong in saying the card looked bad and ended up being bad, it looked bad and ended up being good. The next PPV was the one that wasn't so great.

I'm not writing this card off by any means. You don't need the best fighters for good fights. Roy Nelson and Chris Leben have good records but they're obviously not at the top of their classes. Their fights sure are fun to watch though.
