Then I guess it's not against NCAA rules.

Elway played minor league baseball in the Yankee chain when he was at Stanford. Danny Ainge played in the Toronto system when he was at BYU. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it.

It'll take a lot more than that to help the Cubs.

This is one of the things that the Jeremy Bloom was so pissed about. He couldn't get paid for skiing, but it is ok for baseball players to make their cash.

Maybe a homerun Jesus at Wrigley would do the trick.

The problem was that Bloom was getting endorsement money. I think that's a ridiculous distinction, but it's the one the NCAA draws.

Makes sense to me.

A good orthopedic surgeon for Wood and Prior would cure many of their woes.

Or maybe team surgery. Specifically, replacing the majority of the pitching rotation and picking up hitters who know when it's time to score a damn run.

If he were making the promotional money in the same sport that he was participating in then it would make more sense.

Come on Lex. You're not actually trying to find logic in an NCAA rule or decision, are you? That's like trying to find a MENSA member at an Auburn alumni meeting.

Just trying to help Milo unwrap his thoughts. Notice that I said MORE sense. Still defies all logic.

Well I can see where the rule came from, no promotional money for any NCAA player. Of course, I also think it's stupid for NCAA to not try and reach out, and allow Bloom to do promotional stuff as long as there was no mention of Colorado or football, or whatever.
