Is Tom Brady Still Mr. Clutch?

Tom Brady's legacy as a "clutch" performer is reliant on his 3 SB's for support. The problem is I think he gets way too much credit for those championships. The D was insane, Brady won his first SB with only like 3 offensive TD's in 4 playoff games.

Since Brady has come into his prime (post Spygate) the Patriots have 0 championships and Tom Brady has a playoff record of 7-6. Wha' happen?

I voted no. Like you said those defenses were great, he was nothing more than a game manager. He also had the most clutch kicker in the history of the league. Without Adam V and those great defenses he has 0 SB wins.

What happened is he's got nobody on the outside to throw to.

They lost the game.....not sure how much you can make out of that. Its not like Brady threw a last minute INT to choke the game away. They got beat by a miracle catch and Eli being Eli.

14 points isn't a choke job against a mediocre D? They were the most dynamic offense ever. The game shouldn't have been close for a miracle play to make a difference.

His penalty caused a safety. Forced Pats to go for TD at the end instead of a field goal. Threw an int while driving. A field goal there by the pats seals the game probably.

Not to mention missing a wide open Welker that would've put the game away. Welker is getting torched cause he got both hands on it, but the dude had to make a tough adjustment because Brady threw it high and over the wrong shoulder of a wide open guy.

But I think he was talking about SB XLII, anyways

Brady is a very good qb. But playing for bellicheat gets him the extra hype. Consider the back up qb won 10 games. Always thought if Brady & Manning switched teams, Peyton would have 3 rings and Brady would probably be considered an above average qb.

If Indy had a backup that was more along the talent of a Cassell rather than a Painter, they would have won a lot more games.

Brady is very good now, not great. He was no more than Brad Johnson or Trent Dilfer for his 3 rings.

Agreed. SB XLII, was lost by the Pats Oline. Giants front 4 was a nasty group that year.

Not sayin Cassell was a bum but the Pats have one of the best coaching staffs in the NFL. That has benefited Brady a lot
