It's funny looking at Georgia's schedules to see when the last time they played out of conference more than 100 miles from Athens. They haven't been further than Atlanta, GA or Clemson, SC since 1965!???

I read today that Arkansas and Texas are going to renew their rivalry. There's even talk of them playing every year in Dallas if OU-Texas starts being contested on campus.

The Southwest Conference seems like it was a lifetime ago. If only half the teams hadn't used the NCAA rule book as toilet paper . . .

I dunno. I'm flipping through CFBDataWarehouse.com's records, and in '66 they played at VMI. They played at Michigan in '65.

I figured I'm bored so I'll make a list of non-conference games UGA has left the south for in the last 50 years. For arguments sake, I'll say Kentucky, Virginia, Arkansas, Tennessee, North Carolina, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina and Florida constitute the south.

1957 - at Michigan (Ann Arbor, MI) L
1958 - at Texas (Austin, TX) L
1960 - at Southern California (Los Angeles, CA) L
1965 - at Michigan (Ann Arbor, MI) W
1967 - at Houston (Houston, TX) L

Before that they were pretty good about it. Lots of games at Yale and NYU, and various other Ivy League schools.

Great website, Milo. Is it any surprise that UGA doesn't play anyone?

no not really, and for the most part, playing devil's advocate here, they don't have too.

the play Ga Tech every year, and it's non confrence, and it has importance because it helps them in recruiting in state talent, esp around the ATL area....they play Auburn every year, also helping them in state and USC every year now, which helps them in state and in SC....plus playing UF, and TN every year, their conf. schedule isn't terrible. and they also have the on again, off again rivalry with Clemson...

that said, they need to get some games in other parts of the country...they'd be an instant draw and it'd be good for TV to see UGA/ND or UGA/UCLA or UGA/UW or UGA/TXA&M etc....

keep playing the buffalos of the world, and it'll come back to haunt you, especially when most of the rest of the SEC is playing those teams...ARK/USC and TX....TN/CAL and ND...AUB/USC....LSU/Va Tech and ASU...bama/OK

and vandy/mich...wow.
