First, Sunday was a good day for me....way to go Steelers, and Panthers!!! I hate it for Peyton though...i wish the Steelers could have been playing anybody else, but oh well...

but, the refs this weekend were AWFUL!!!! i didn't see the whole Skins/Hawks game, so if there are any in there, feel free to add on....

But the Broncos/Pats game....completely missed Pass Interference call in the 2nd half....not that i'm upset, i hate the pats, but it was stil a bad no call...

the Steelers/Colts...a whole host of bad calls....non call on pass interference on the Colts in the 1st half (Randel El got mugged!!!) the False start on Faneca on 4th down, the interception ruled an incomplete pass, after reveiw???? the guy rolled over twice with the ball in his gut? how is that not possession? And i'm sure there was one more horrible call in that game as well.....can't remember it right now...

and the Panthers/Bears...a couple of non pass interference calls, and one defensive holding call on a running play?? huh? explain that to me?

NFL=good football
NFL refs=get a new job, you suck.

I think the whole possession rule in the NFL is to blame on that interception that got overturned. I know I saw the Falcons lose about 3 reviews this year on what I assumed were obvious catches.

yeah, but you got admit, that call against Troy, was terrible. that may have been the worst call i've ever seen. and after a reveiw nonetheless....which makes it worse.

"must posess the football AND make a "football move" in order to establish a reception..."

This "football move" is a mystery to me as it relates to the official's calls. No consistency in this ruling whatsoever!

yeah, but football move, well, he had possession, wasn't down by contact(rolled over TWICE with possession), and in the process of getting up, his knee hit the ball...

in my book, it's a catch, fumble, fumble recovery, 1st and 10 Steelers.

To what authority do officials answer to? The call on the steelers int was so wrong 1 could argue the ref had money on the colts. Why do you never hear about integrity investigations?

I agree, the officiating this weekend was terrible. The interference call in the Pats/Broncos game was outrageous. If you look in the football dictionary under "great coverage," there should be a picture of that play. And I say that as a semi-interested viewer who was hoping the Broncos would win.

And the overturn on the Manning interception was worse. I saw the play, watched the replay, and left to go play golf. If that play is indicative of the NFL rule, the rule needs to change. And again, the call went FOR the team I was hoping would win.

Maybe there is an answerability problem with officials. Maybe with new TV technology we are seeing blown calls better. But these NFL playoffs have shown some of the worst officiating in key situations since...well...the college bowl season. There really needs to be some improvement.

The NFL officials are just as bad as the SEC ones.

You're being nice. They are worse than most high school officials. You'd think a wealthy institution like the NFL could afford full time officials like MLB instead bringing in a bunch of hot shot doctors and lawyers who get $400 and free admission to the games, not to mention the best seats in the house and the oportunity to make sure their team wins. It has always stunk to high heaven and always will. I've often wondered if NFL officials shouldn't be investigated by the league for gambling on games, based on some the calls I see week in and week out.

I agree! I always wonder if one team is paying the refs more by the way they make worse calls against the other.
