I would never pull for a team in the Big 12 over a Pac 10 team unless all of the stars fell into place like they did last night. For the record, USC was not competing for their third National Championship. They were competing for their second consecutive national championship. The BCS is the NCAA endorsed method for determining the "Official National Champion of NCAA Football". The Sears trophy goes to one team. I was happy that Texas won, and we don't have to sit around and listen to people talk about this USC team being "best ever". Why do people feel the need? I just don't understand it.

After last night, and after seeing Cadillac win offensive rookie of the year in the NFL I am also convinced that Auburn was really hosed last year.

While we are alowing that type of thinking, IMO UT had the best team in the SEC East this year. We just caught some bad breaks with turnovers and missed calls. Otherwise, we'd be at least 10-2 now. :biggrin2:

Actually no it's not, there is no official champions of the NCAA. NCAA does not recognize or endorse any championship over any of the others in college football. The conferences themselves endorse the BCS championship.

SO by that logic, the New England Pats will win the Super Bowl because "recent history" shows them as the "better team"...

That's !!!

The better team did win last night, the one that handled the pressure when it mattered, had the better leadership (i.e. didn't call run up the middle on 4th and 2 on the 45 with your best player on the sidelines!!!), and put together all the pieces of the puzzle...great game!!!

And by the way, all you Vince Young maniacs out there...one person does not the team make.

Congrats 'horns!!!

We'll see ya in the NC game next year...

Screw the BCS. The system screwed up in 2003 and the result was a split national title. And it's not like USC was declared national champs in '03 by the Los Angeles Times. It was the freakin' Associated Press Poll! The most recognized individual poll out there. And yeah, Auburn did get a screwjob last year. But what were they supposed to do, leave Oklahoma or USC out of the title game? Oklahoma had by far the most dominant regular season of the three, and USC would probably have absolutely shanked whoever they played in the Rose Bowl. Auburn had that ugly D-IAA team on their schedule and unfortunately that, in addition to other things, gave them the short end of the BCS stick. Yeah, I believe a plus one or a tournament would have remedied the situation. But what can you do? Sorry to all the people who thought Auburn got the screwjob last season (me included!) but they're never going to be recognized as national champs in '04!

Boy the BCS really lucked out this year, with Oregon losing to Oklahoma and the rest of the parts falling right into place.

I was just happy to see Leinart get knocked around and rattled - I don't think he is gonna make it in the NFL - but then again - I could be wrong.

I believe arrogance is what beat USC last nite. Think about it they havent lost in about 2 years, they have come back in the 4th quarter how many times to win games, they probably got the best 2 running backs in the nation. They go for it on 4th down when most teams would punt it or kick a field goal. Arrogance or confidence, whichever it is that was there worst enemy last nite not the horns.

If Leinhart goes to the Saints he could have a very productive year. I know this comment will be subject to harsh criticism because it is the Saints but think about it?

Every thing is in place but the quarterback position. He shouldn't be beat around like Carr, Smith, etc and if Duece comes back the burden of the offense would not be on him.

The Saints and Leinhart are made for each other!

Who would he throw to? Also, we would probably have to cut more fat under teh salary cap to make room for what I am sure will be an insane compensation package which probably means bye-bye to Brad hopkins and Benji Olson. How good will Lienart be with crappy receivers, no running game to speak of, and an inexperienced offensive line?

He sure did act like a baby after the game. It was nice to see both Heisman boys severely limited.....

I wonder if they will make a play for him....there was a good article in the Tennessean that offered the Eli Manning strategy for Leinart to avoid going to the Saints and to go to the Titans. Or the Titans can get the local boy in Cutler.
