While I think the BCS is junk and there needs to be a playoff, Congress doesn't really have any business sticking their nose into it. Aren't there more important things for them to do?

That's pretty much my feeling too. With all that's going on in the world you'd think they would have more important things to work on than the college bowl games. Of course I thought the whole baseball steroid hearing thing was just grandstanding too.

Agreed. I cringe anytime the busybodies from Congress, no matter what party, decide that it is a good thing to get involved in something they generally have a limited knowledge of at best. There is almost always an ulterior motive, either to get votes or divert the public's attention from the real issues that they should be dealing with.

Maybe they can blackmail the NCAA or the bowls into giving campaign contributions.

I agree. It is completely ridiculous for Congress to get involved in this. They sound stupid when they hold hearings and try to act as if they have any idea what they are talking about.

After this, Notre Dame will get a BCS bid if they're ranked in the top 25.

I think you hit it right there. By giving the appearence of getting tough on something, they are really diverting attention away from the real issues of the day.

Its obvious that the angle Congess is coming from here is $. There is really no other reason they'd get involved in the matter unless someone has identified a way to swipe some bucks. Remember we're talking about individuals who's only unanimous votes are on ''do we get a raise'' motions.
